Will a Radeon HD 5750 run on my PSU?

Thanks!

ATI recommends a 450W PSU. I realize they have to pad their recommendation for the people running cheap/no-name brand PSUs, but then I started looking around the internet, and at least 30A on the +12V rail kept popping up. That had me worried since my PSU only has 25A, even though it's a quality PSU.

you should really list all your specs when asking these types of questions. the video card isnt the only thing thats important when asking for upgrade advice.

yeah a 5750 should be no problem with that setup and your psu. btw if you are using Vista or 7 then having only 2gb of ram will cause some hitching in some games.

Ah, I didn't know that, thanks for the info. Will try to upgrade to 4GB as soon as I can.

I'm already stepping up. My original plan was to buy an HD 4670 or GT 240.

Cheapest 5770 on Newegg is $137 after MIR. The 5750 I was looking at is $113 after MIR. But besides that, you think my PSU is enough to run a 5770?

it should probably be okay with your psu. what resolution are you trying to play games at?

My monitor is 1920x1080, but I don't mind lowering the resolution/settings to play games. Of course, it's always nice to be able to play a game at my monitor's native res.

yes your psu should have no problem with either.
I've put an 8800 GT 512 on a 350 Watt Antec before so 400 watts should be plenty assuming you don't have like a ton of hard drives.

it's more difficult at that price difference since it's rarer for me to see 5750s with rebate (usually $125 lowest without rebate). Performance difference is about %15 between them though. Sometimes worth it depending on the game.

at that res you should go ahead and spend the extra 20-25 bucks and get a 5770 1gb over the 5750 for sure.

umm...yes. the 5750 beats the crap out of it for 20 bucks more. the 5670 is a terrible card for its msrp.

The 5670 is a great card for OEM machines that are restricted to the power available in a PCIe slot. It's almost twice as fast as a 4670.

on average the 5670 is not even anywhere near 50% faster much less 100% faster than the 4670 like you claim. and in the context of this thread yes the 5670 sucks when the OP can get a MUCH faster 5750 for only about 20 bucks more.

You're right, I had the performance numbers wrong. Still, to say the card sucks is just wrong. It has its place.

again it sucks in the context of this thread and its msrp is not too good. yeah for someone with a mediocre oem HP/Compaq or Dell it would have its place.

Either way, go for the 1GB versions of the card? The 5750 I was looking at for $113 is 512MB.

definitely want the 1 GB version. That would explain why that 5750 seemed unusually cheap, but the extra money is worth it for 1GB at that resolution.
