I read that a CPU can get shorted out by energy surge, etc. Also read not to put a shorted cpu into a motherboard. I had an AMD 4850e CPU on an Asus vm-2A board. The PSU went crazy spitting out sparks and then dying. After that the System wouldn't boot. I didn't know what components died so i started by buying a new MBoard. Asrock 128gxe...Well I put the 4850e on the board and no post and no beep codes. I then bought a 5050e CPU but still no post no beeps. Anyway I am wondering if the first cpu (4850e) could have been shorted and killed the new board? any thoughts?
