Business owners also used to heavily discriminate against black people using other forms of payment. One such story is indeed related by her father in court. This is a practical cultural response. Some of our stores had a heavily African American customer base and they were always far more cash heavy than anybody else. It was a headache for us internally because the armored car had so come more often to those and there was more risk of getting held up or somebody disappearing with the deposits.
