Not necessarily:

Read this

GT VS GTX

Given the fact that cost 50% more and the performance/price doesn't run proportionally.

I'll pick the 7800GT because i am searching for a "bang bucking" system.

There are a lot of brands, and I am not sure wich I will pick.

Any suggestions?

Just stick with the EPoX 9nPA+ Ultra. Pretty much the best ~$100 board you can get. Don't ust order from Monarch. Shop around for the best price.

The EPoX is an excellent board and is almost as good as the DFI Lanparty Ultra-D in overclocking. It's also very cheap.

I want the SLI board.

Do you know wich one I have to pick???

Other Question:

Are there other options???

(I will read the mobo "Ultimate Guide")

Damn man, I am REALLY tired...The last 72 hours maybe I have read like 40+

I hope all that effort pays on a good system.

For Ram the 1gb is fine but go with 2X512 or you will not be able to run your memory in dual channel with a single stick

Go with the MSI K8N-Neo4/SLI. It is very stable and I have it. To save money don't get the Platinum you wont need it. Also fo the RAM get 2x 512MB G.SKILL Value RAM.

Here is the RAM.
Here is the MOBO.

EDIT: Sorry looks like the board isn't in stock. Look around for it and if not just get the Platinum version.

For now you are right. This is supposed to last four years thogh, So a dual core rig makes sence since games will be starting to be coded for dual cores. My 2 cents

Honestly, I think that he's better off with a 3700+ Sandy, saves alot and for the next while he will be better off.

Also, alot of the next games will use the HL2 / Doom 3 engines which are not multi core optimized. How long was it between HL1 and HL2 close to 4 years no?

I would go single core and spend then money on a better gpu or more ram.

Tnks.

You know, I feel unclear if I should buy him a dual or single core.

To be honest I DON?T TRUST the Opteron 165 because I haven?t delve into sufficiently.

But I am looking forward to OC it for him a year from now? When I read a lot and dominate the area.

I just payed...Thanks My People.
