Agreed. In a fair world, it should do better, but the top 5 Xbox games will likely all outsell HL2.Originally posted by: warcrow
Nope. Absolutely will not. Consoles gerernate SO many more units sold than the PC.

from the answers I'm getting, even if they dropped the price to $30, it still won't sell as much (units or $)...
Anyway, I ask because every other thread in here is HL2... unlike the 5 or so Halo 2 threads that day.

Every other thread in here is about HL2 because today was the release day.
Edit: Oh, and because Steam was screwed up for much of the day.

not in the first 24 hours, but over the next year absolutely. PC game sales are very dependent on word of mouth. Console games have a very short window that they have to do well. Once the word gets out that HL2 is something special (if in fact it is), it'll make the rounds.
Hell Halo 2 made more money in preorders then The Incredibles did on opening weekend

Since its release more than 3 years ago the original Halo has never left the Xbox top 10 in sales. Totalling over 5 million copies. HL2 wont come anywhere near that. Neither will Doom 3
Halo 2 sold 2.3 million coppies in ONE DAY.

Valid point about hardware... though I'd say it's more a convenience thing than having to spend more money thing.Originally posted by: Pocatello
Let see, to play Halo 2, I need around $200, $150 for the hardware, $50-60 for the game. What I need to play HL2 will cost me more that $200. Most people with a PC have integrated intel graphics which are barely good enough for DX 7 games...thanks to dell and intel.

Of course, thats deceptive. 15.5 million xboxes = 15.5 million xbox gamers. 300million pc users doesn't equal 300 million gamers, not even close.
