Gonna go with no. It's impossible to sustain life at the pace that humans are destroying and exploiting the natural resources for it to last another 5000 years. Earth will probably look like mars, except with ruins of our civilization and nokia phones.

Probably. We'll either be at the top of whatever shit food chain is left on a blasted and ruined planet, or will have ascended to unimaginable technological heights and live in a virtual paradise, but we'll still be around.

I would assume that unless we kill ourselves off in some way or some random interstellar drastic global destruction happens we'll be here in 5000 years. The more I learn about the universe, the more it amazes me we are a) here and b) not dead by above random event.

Species-wise, typically it takes a few hundred thousand years for a new species to emerge, so I'd say it would be unlikely that we weren't the dominant species, unless we're wiped out by each other, or some natural phenomena, either that or we finally begin to use genetic engineering to create new species from scratch.
