Will internet Advertisements become obsolete in the future? *POLL*

I noticed that https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1865/">AdBlock+</a> does a very good job blocking ads. It did such a good job I even forgot they existed. I turned it off for a little bit to see what I was missing out on, and WOW this thing blocks a lot!

My question is, who thinks that in the future, internet ads will become obsolete because of these little extensions, plug ins, etc?

And when I say ads, I mean banners, pop ups, etc.

Will the advertisers have to resort to a new method?

I accidentally clicked yes. The advertisements will simply change. We'll see more and more "pop-under" ads, and those ads that block the whole screen forcing you click next to go to the real site.

drum, you do have an interesting point, and I did read an article about how television marketers are brainstorming for new ideas. Lemme dig it up

The good percentage of people out there who are computer illiterate and wouldn't even know what Firefox IS will keep the imbeded ad "market" alive.

Nope - only a very small % use adblock and similar.

I think prime time TV advertizing will start appear in the shows with more product placement etc... due to DVR
