Movie theaters, libraries, deep dark cave if you can find one haha. We have a Window AC unit in our office to limit turning down the house thermostat. Also helps we have solar so we mostly avoid the peak charges.

well fortunately it is very dry so the swamp cooler should work pretty damn well assuming its been properly maintained. It is also cheap to run since it is just a blower with water on the outside pads. Just keep it running all the time, far cheaper than AC to run. also its a few degrees cooler in tucson.

Yeah, swamp coolers work well until monsoon season. Then it's miserable.

Phone says 116° right now, so not 120 yet.

^^just about lol

Yes it is hot...but I like the heat, so it does not bother me. Swamp coolers don't work well over 105 in general...had them growing up and my last house I sold. They work awesome at night and it can get cold before the monsoons/humidity hits.

I prefer hot but I know this is really hot. What amazes me about arizonians is they bike with full clothing in 100 deg.weather. So I guess you get used to the 100 weather but will you get used to +115?

I don't know how people live in places like that. That's just brutal. I would want to just stay indoors in A/C and never have to get out.

I'll take our -40's any day before that kind of heat.

Dry heat's awesome, just like dry heaves are the fun way of puking...
LOLZ. Still, seems like it might be better than Florida's 95F/95% humidity. On vacation there, I felt like a needed a shower after I walked out the front door and got in the car

At least no humidity like it is here. Hot and humid = high heat index = misery.

I do not know how people were able to live down South way back then with all of those clothes. Huck and Jim would be sweating bucket down the Mississippi River.

Have the people in Phoenix painted the roofs white or silver to reflect the heat? The last time it got above 120 in Phoenix an epileptic who had a seizure burned his face on the asphalt of the parking lot where it happened.

This is why they employed slaves. Euro-bred Americans figured it was too hot down south for a white man to handle.
Also there's this fiber called linen, wind blows right through it. Dries fast. It's almost like not wearing a shirt.

Also, like not knowing you're late because you don't have a clock, they didn't even know it was hot because they didn't have thermometers. And without maps I don't think they even knew they were in the south. Just like today's Southerners, they just obliviously sat around until someone did something stupid.

You haven't lived until you've done CBRNE training in full MOP4 in South Caronlina in July. 110F, 97% humidity, and someone's got a training box to check, so get your ass in a gas mask!
Wonder if you can reflow circuit boards on a car dashboard or solder with a seat belt buckle. Someone needs to try it.
I regularly got mild 1st degree burns from belt buckles and stuff during the summers, you just get used to it. Helps that half the stuff is plastic now, but I'd often have socks in my car to go over my hands to hold on to the steering wheel (black, leather) cuz it was just too hot otherwise. I wouldn't be surprised if something metallic could hit 150F in that.
