Well this morning I turn my PC on and I hear 6 clunking sounds and then my HD spins up like normal. I know this ain't good. Also since I got it, it takes anywhere from 4-6secs to spin up. Well I called Maxtor today and told the RMA guy the sounds and stuff and he immediately asked for name,address,phone # and if I wanted standard(me ship my drive in for exchange) or advanced(me give a CC# and they ship one out then I send mine in). He didn't even ask me if I had ran any dignostics on it or anything(which I didn't). He just said I should have it within 4 business days. Anyway I went with advanced. But was mainly wondering will they charge me if they get my drive and it ain't dead or making any clunking sounds?
I had to shut down when I called them because I knew they would want a bunch of info off the drive. After I hung up with him I powered on and the HD spun up without any clunking sounds.
