Will my 9700pro do 1680x1050

Hopefully after the Holidays I will be able to build a new system, but for now I am still running my lowly old 9700 pro card. My now 4 yr old NEC LCD monitor is acting weird, so I want to replace it now. I want a big 22in wide something... In my display properties, I see no choice for 1680x1050 which is the native res of I believe all of the displays I have looked at.

I don't want blurry text due to using a non-native res. Can a driver upgrade fix this or will by chance, XP and the display driver recognize the monitor and offer up it's native res?

I believe that when Windows/Your 9700 recognize the new 22" 1680x1050 will become an option. If for some reason that doesn't happen then you can try installing the manufacturer's .INF for that monitor. If *that* doesn't work there's always powerstrip. But honestly I think Windows and DCC should take care of everything. Note by DCC I mean that protocol that monitors use to send their resolution capabilities over the VGA/DVI connection itself. I'm pretty sure I have the acronym wrong but my Googleing skills are broken so that's what I'm going with.

In short, you'll be fine. For 2D anyways.

AtiTray tools is a better option for resolution switching. Gaming at that res with that card isn't happening for anything newer than the orig Unreal though.

Well my GF2 MX does 1680x1050 so I know the 9700 will. Are you sure you updated to latest drivers? But it may not be a option till you hook a 20/22" to it.

Thanks guys. I picked up a Samsung 226BW at CC today. Hooked it up and booted my comp, it actually brought up my desktop at a default of 1680x1050! Absolutely painless. Now I just need to put together that new box to run to it.
