Cage is great in the movies he cares about, and merely adequate in the ones where he's just there for the paycheck. Unfortunately, he has to make payday movies like Con Air and the Rock to convince the studios to help him make the good ones.

Back OT, Will Smith has become a very good actor because he works so hard at it.

You forget that many of his fans aren't sticking around for his acting, but for scenes like the brief one in iRobot in the shower......

Admittedly a fraction of the movies he has made, but even in some of his lesser works like Peggy Sue Got Married or 8MM or the rather odd the Weather Man, he tried to bring something different to the role.
