Definitely Scarface. There's a remake in the works (for 2014 according to imdb, take with a grain of salt of course). This would make #3 for that particular title.
The ones that don't get it and don't like it because it's boring are the 152 character ADD retard generation. Go play farmville.
I don't know what special techniques it may have used at the time. Citizen Kane is great because of how it tells a powerful story of social and financial success, pinned by an empty, unhappy, heart. His financial and social success never fills him, and the public never truly have affection towards him.I have this same problem with Citizen Kane. It may have been the first to use a bunch of techniques but that doesn't make it good in my book, just historically interesting.
What am I? A schmuck on wheels? :awe:mob movies are dumb...

Godfather will rate poorly with the ADD crowd. So most of todays youth will probably not like the movie. Which is understandable. This is not a movie for Generation Y.

Like watching paint dry
Godfather holds up well. Scarface felt really dated. Might have been because of the 80's cheesiness.
I love this movie and the end is one of the best if not the best ever. When Michael's wife walks in and asks him if he killed his brother and he lies to her face and to never ask about his business again gives you the sense that no one is safe not even his own wife and that Michael has no conscience just brilliant.
Goodfellas is my all time mob movie though. It is a much faster pace movie and I think that is why most people that hate the Godfather like Goodfellas better. I’m generation X and see that most people have the attraction span of a gnat.
Just to add a bit more. . I think the reason the sequel is considered just as good if not better is because you see the stark contrast between Vito and Michael. I talk about values and character development, etc. and I think it is summed up at the end of 2. Would Vito have ordered Fredo dead? What would Vito think of Michael ordering Fredo dead? What have our values become since the initial wedding scene?

Think of it like A Christmas Carol, but without all of the useless feelgood nonsense.

If you need fast movies that can be appreciated by their surface content, look elsewhere than the likes if these kinds of movies. They're slow, and all the important bits are subtextual. They are slow, so as to emphasize to subtext, which gets lost if the pace is too fast.

I always love comments that follow the "If you don't like XXXXX you're a horrible person who should be killed" format.
Beer snobs, wine snobs, movie snobs... Snobs of any type are amusing.
