If this was really about just gays serving in the military, they would quietly accept their service and just do it.

Regardless... according to military law, soldiers are supposed to be a-sexual while on duty. So it matters not what sex your partner is, because there is no sex.

Heterosexual service members are not kicked out for casually talking about their heterosexual experiences, their spouse back home, etc. whereas homosexual service members could, have been, and continue to be. That's what this is about.

No they put DADT in because if someone was suspected, just suspected they could have an investigation done on them to find out.

This is one of the issues that really pisses me off about him. He should have had the balls to come out on day one and not only toss DADT but to make gay marriage legal in all 50 states. It is his Christian faith that is fucking him up.

What unit did you serve in? Sounds like you served with a bunch of immature idiots. I was in for 10 years and never experienced much of any real homophobia. Sure we joked but no one ever expressed any violent intent towards gays.

Any gay guy seriously interested in military service is not going to be a flaming gay stereotype and isn't likely to be "beat up". If anything, he'll be the one beating up any bigoted heterosexuals who threaten him.

Have you ever seen some of the guys at IML (International Mr. Leather)? Yeah.. they're more the type inclined to serve in the military. Good luck trying to beat up one of those guys. They'll be glad to return the favor.. and then piss on you too.

Please let us know the amount of time you've spent in the military. I spent 7 years there, and there were several guys on my ship who everyone knew were gay (even if they couldn't say it). Not only were they never touched, they were well liked.

Nobody cares. People in the military have grown up, even if you haven't.
