The new Chevy SSR (half pickup, half roadster) also has a retractable hardtop... and it was sure attracting a lot of attention at the LA Auto Show yesterday.

the only one sold in america that is hardtop.....which i didn't know.....is SC430, which i am alright with, but in an american manufactured car?? CMON!
And I hate to break it to you, but Pontiac is set to produce a hardtop convertible of the new G6 that might cost less than $30K, although it probably won't come out until '06.
The Chevrolet SLR also has a retractable hardtop and the Mitsubishi 3000GT Spyder had a retractable hardtop before the SLK. I think that was the first "modern" production retractable hardtop.

Clever - you posted a thread about an entirely different car just so you could remind us that you own an SLK.

For a few years (I think around '95-96) the 3000GT was offered with a retractable hardtop. I don't think that many were sold during that time hence the relative rarity of seeing one on the road. The Eclipse has always been a soft top AFAIK.Originally posted by: ed21x

Actually I was always under the impression that the Spyder version of the 3000GT and Eclipse were only offered as soft top.
