Will the i7-4790K go down in price soon?

Intel mostly doesn't cut prices. Plus, with the 5775C and 6700K more expensive there's not much reason to.

Actually wait, hold on. You're building new and going with Haswell mainstream? Is there any reason you are not going with Haswell-E or Skylake?

No point in building new with a last gen CPU, good as they are.

If you want to pick up a used 4790K, that might be a different story.

Could someone please state what the price is for the I7 4790K and what a complete desktop system would cost. Also the difference in price between the 4790K and the 6700K.
Apparently, from the shops I've visited, the 6700K isn't even available yet. I don't know why they made that big announcement for the 6700K, I think it was August 5th, and a month later it's still not available.
That's probably why the 4790K has not come down in price yet.

As I posted earlier this will be my first Intel build and I want to reuse my 16 Gb Ram. The 4790K is still a significant upgrade from the FX8350 and as long as I can get a good 3 year life cycle out of it ill be happy.

the old Intel CPUs slowly disappear, they don't really go down in price...
unless you go for used parts.

I sold mine and I regret it. But you might find some stuff as the more enthusiastic among us move to Skylake or X99.

I'm running a Gigabyte z97x-UD5H with a 4790k. Seems like both are good overclockers. Playing around at 4,8ghz currently at 1.27v's. Early stages of the overclocking adventure. Seems like chip is a nice one! The quest for 5GHz may have ended.
