See post #8 and subsequent link. I don't need to hold your hand anymore than that.

Haha, your post just had you quoting your own post and so it looks crazy like you're saying that to yourself.

Then I realized I probably had someone on ignore.

are you illiterate?

they were addressed. It was pointed out to you that the republican senate blocked passage of that bill prior to the election. You said that the democrats--Pelosi--were responsible, when Pelosi actually passed it.

You lied, and your lie was addressed. Then, you claim that your point "Wasn't addressed." It could not have been addressed any more directly than it was addressed. The premise of your post was a complete lie, yet you just ignore that. ...are you disappointed that it wasn't more directly pointed out that you lied?

I was like who the fuck is crashtech and then realized he was probably one of those that first post of his I saw in this subforum I realized was going to be pointless to ever respond to them.

All the attributes of a troll. Cuts the refutation out of a post down to only the ad-hom and then claims only ad-hom and no refutation. In a just world that would be instant ban.

When you are in a cult and you can’t rationalize away uncomfortable truths you simply ignore them. He’s in so deep that he doesn’t even realize he’s gone blind.

We can''t just keep on giving people unemployment benefits and stimulus checks forever.

See below reply.

It's possible you are right. What is undeniable to an unbiased observer is they have played politics with this long enough. My point was that it was somewhat understandable during an election cycle, but enough is enough.
Bold emphasis mine.

EDIT: I have a hard time believing you are unbiased observer, uninformed seems more appropriate.

Go back and look at what happened on December 27th.
You know, the day where Trump did NOT sign the bill in time. The Bill that let everyone's unemployment insurance EXPIRE if it was NOT SIGNED in time.
Yea that BILL.

In Kentucky there a tens of thousands of people that have NOT received an unemployment check since the first wee of January, which was the last payment due BEFORE that bill LAPSED due to Trump out golfing instead of doing his JOB.

My wife is one of those people. The only thing keeping her business from closing for good is that I am an essential worker who has NOT missed any time due to this Pandemic. So I have helped with her rent on her space, electric, water. supplies. When I can. I also have to pay the household bills too. WE ARE STRETCHED VERY THIN.

Now realize, Jan fifth was the last check from 2020. It is now March. She has done everything she is supposed to do. Still nothing. She cannot reach a person, get a reply from email, nor get a call back. She is not alone in our state. Many many people are in dire need.

Trump let the existing Bill expire, which has caused all kinds of trouble for many people. If it wasn't for my job in Telco, I don't know where we would be.

Trump and the Republicans played POLITICS here, not the Dems.

Seems that moderate Democrats wanted this bill cheanged, and they got their way.

Under the changes agreed to by Biden and Senate Democratic leadership, individuals earning $75,000 per year and couples earning $150,000 would still receive the full $1,400-per-person benefit. However, the benefit would disappear for individuals earning more than $80,000 annually and couples earning more than $160,000. That means singles making between $80,000 and $100,000 and couples earning between $160,000 and $200,000 would be newly excluded from a partial benefit under the revised structure Biden agreed to.

Seems that Joe Manchin is becoming a thorn in the side of Biden. It's also going to be a war between conserative Democrats like Manchin and progressive democrats like Cortez, and Sanders. They want to keep giving Americans a monthly check until we can get past COVID19, and our country gets back to normal.

1) Moderate Democrats strip stimulus checks from 12 million voters:

2) Key Democrats want to keep sending money to Americans until this is over:

As a single person meeting that exclusion criteria (certainly can't speak for the other 11,999,999) I'm ok not getting a stimulus check. I only got $250 the first round and $0 the second

What's weird is, I'm retired, expecting nothing. At one point toward the end of the year, this deposit of like $114.95 exactly141.45 (EIP2) showed up in my account. Ok.

BUT.... many liberals in congress DO NOT like that this happened. The elimination of the wage increase from the Biden bill. THEY expect the parliamentarian to be over-ruled or for VP Harris to object and reject then over-rule the parliamentarian ( as I understand it). So here is where we are at... with the wage having been removed, and with many democrats in the congress NOT liking this move, I fully expect those democrats to NOT support the stripped-down bill because THEY INSIST on that 15 dollar wage to be INCLUDED. So, don't be surprised if those determined democrats are willing to derail the entire train off the tracks simply because THE CAN NOT get their way. Seriously.... this 15 dollar wage MEANS A LOT to some of those democrats AND they have been working on this wage increase for YEARS and YEARS. They do not think of this as a wage increase, they think of this as WAGE EQUALITY. Wage equality, for those people who have suffered existing on a poverty wage for years while the top 1% have enjoyed their incomes going up and up and up administration after administration. So.... DO NOT underestimate the determination AND PURE ANGER over the wage increase having been stripped out of the stimulus. THEY ARE PISSED and they will absolutely BLOCK this bill, ALL OF IT, if they can not get their way with the wage. Just a warning, mind you, that when this all falls apart in the house and democrats wonder WHAT THE F...ing HELL HAPPENED, now you know. And all the while as republicans in congress rejoice at the complete incompetence of the democratic party get anything done.

PS. Welcome to being a democrat....
The min wage provision exists solely to raise the temper of the populace. The politicians know certain states have implemented their own minimum wage increase schedule, in accordance with balancing the both the need to keep revenues flowing in while also giving workers "enough". The procedural axing disguises what Washington was aiming for all along. Until the blue states themselves can sort out their min wages out so the blue states do not take an excessive revenue hit due to lost business, there will not be a federal increase to punish the Republican states' business advantage.

Michigan's min wage increase doesn't even hit $15 an hour by 2030. Maryland has for large employers, but small businesses have a slower schedule in which $15 must be complied with on July 1, 2026. Letting the bill die because of the parliamentarian allows Senators like Cardin to save face while not punishing their own state government's carefully crafted and "more in touch" policy.

Washington knows that 99% of the populace on see the federal government as the central force and can barely comprehend what their state does. Naming one state senator is an impossible task for most, even myself.

Kamala did her job and broke the tie. Now Johnson is forcing them to read the entire bill on the floor in order to stall as long as possible. Then the Republicans get to propose amendments, lol.

If they want to fight tooth and nail against overwhelmingly popular legislation that’s up to them.

And yet, so many Americans are still hurting. Screw the Republicans. We need monthly checks!

I'm thinking $3k a month for every American . How long? For the duration of this virus, which could take years!

Are you, by chance, a UBI supporter?

lol, tbh I have mixed feelings on UBI. I acknowledge that jobs are disappearing, and that COVID19 has acclerated this. Wait unti automation takes off. We haven't seen the worse yet. OTOH, I also acknowledge human behavior and how UBI would affect their lives. If you give people free money, good luck weaning them off. Imagine a 32 year old on UBI for a few years. Hasn't worked in years. Do you really think that he, or she will just get up and go get a job? I think most Americans on UBI would just watse their time on Netflix, video games, drinking, smoking weed, etc. That's human nature. To do the least possible.

So, spend their ubi? 😉

I'm curious what other options you would support?

Personally, I'd take the ubi and keep on working. But I would be able to save quite a bit more, that's for sure. 25 years from now, people my age are going to be fuct, very few are saving for retirement.

Saving us from Democratic pork!

I guess that's the messaging from the R side though lately they seem to be uncontrollably obsessed with Dr. Seuss and neanderthals so not a lot of substantive attacks on Dem policy moves here right now. When Obamacare passed it was wall to wall policy doom coverage (death panels, etc).

Biden is about to unleash an absolute tidal wave of cash on the populace and they're screwing around with children's books. Doesn't seem wise politically or electorally.

Who's screwing around with children's books? If you are implying that the government (democrats) has anything to do with the children's books being removed, you are sadly mistaken.

Yeah but it works. The Trump base is utterly fucked up. We can't underestimate how gone they are. My FB feed of right wingers that haven't posted political stuff often are now all posting about the Dr. Seuss shit. This is what they care about.

GOP needs more than the base to win many of their elections. All the "voting is rigged" talk also will still cause them problems like it did in the GA runoffs.

There was a 1.8T bill on offer back in October. It's understandable that Pelosi could not give Trump a win so close to the election. What's inexplicable at this point is why this hasn't been fast-tracked with Dems in full power. The delay lends credence to the notion that Dems are no longer the worker's party.

You mean the bill Pelosi wouldn't agree to because McConnell was determined to give blanket immunity to employers to do whatever the hell they wanted to put their employees in harms way with respect to COVID while stripping employees' rights to sue? Oh yeah Pelosi should have passed that to look out for the nation's workers.
