But Texas was never in the civil war! If Texas had been in the confederacy, the South would have won!

Uhmmm... Texas was part of the Confederacy, the seceded on February 1st, 1861, before even states like Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

With the fall of oil, Russia's 15min of fame are over. They can join Chavez and their other oil buddies in the poor house.

How he pulled the breakup out of his ass is beyond me. There might be some racial tensions and such in this country, but it pales in comparison to the many ethnic tensions that exist within Russia and many other 2nd-3rd world countries. We all share roughly the same values, ie Sports, American Idol, McDonalds, and StarBucks.

First, the Great Depression does not relate to the Civil War. Second, the Civil War is not quite the same scenario we face today. Modern society and government is much different than it was in the 1800s.

We have NEVER faced a socialist government on our own soil before.
