Intel will be doing a die shrink which will effectively allow double the storage on the same size silicon wafer. This has the potential to drive down pricing, however given demand I wouldnt expect more than about a 40% reduction on Intel SSD drives late 2011 to early 2012. Most users would benefit by having a 100-200GB SSD as their OS drive and run all media, recorded TV, Videos, music collection from a large spindal based drive. You can already get 2TB HDD's for 100$ on sale, so in reality it shouldnt take much longer before the average consumer can afford an SSD drive as their primary OS drive. My price point is around 120$ for a 120GB drive or a dollar a gigabyte. Were not to far from that now with some of the sales. Case in point Newegg has the Intel 120GB model for 169 after mail in rebate and is offering a 25$ giftcard on orders over 200$ today. Thats pretty darn close to my threshold Today! Im betting that their will be some 100GB-150GB drives late next year at my price point, also the newer drives will have performance improvements which are worth waiting for. IMHO Intel has the only drives that are reliable enough now to meet my standards. The others have too many wasted writes and your disk can fail prematurely. Opened a can on that statment! Just check reviews though from decent samples on most SSD's and you will see high failure rates on the great majority. Everyone should so some homework when selecting any SSD drive, especially with regards to write operations as these drives all have limited writes and not all controllers are created equal. Too me reliability is more important than the speed.
