Or is the 3007FPW that is going to have HD inputs?

Because I want to play my PS3 and Xbox 360 on a 24''+ LCD instead of a HDTV. and the PS3 is going 1080p through HDMI... which (i think) the 3007 supports...

Any input is welcome

All of the **07s are supposed to have HDMI. The 3007 is supposed to come out this year, while the 2007 and 2407 are supposed to come out feb/mar, as 40 says.

Whats the point? Digital is digital.. Are the **07's going to have a sound system amp?

Or is there a limit to the bandwidth a DVI cable can carry? Whats the highest resolution it can support? What is the highest HDMI can support?

Absolutely, there is a limit of bandwidth to DVI (165 MHz for a fully-compliant single-link TMDS transmitter).

Note some cards can only do 150 MHz (like some GeForce FXs).

Width*Height*VerticalScanRate = bandwidth (hertz)

1920x1080x60Hz (124.416000 MHz) is possible while 1920x1080x75Hz (176.256000 MHz) is not with 165 MHz single-link DVI bandwidth.

Whats the benefit of a higher 'refresh rate' with LCD? less smearing?

My main question is if there is going to be a Dell 24xx revision that has PS3's best rez support (i believe it is 1080p, through HDMI... is HDMI the same as HDCP? A little confused here...

I will mainly get the 24xx for the 360 and PS3, because i dont have $2000+ for a super high quality HDTV... and also for PC gaming, of course

DVI can more then handle the resolutions the Xbox 360 outputs. Im sure it will be the same for the PS3.

The key differences between DVI and HDMI is additional bandwidth for resolutions higher then 1080i, and carries digital 5.1 audio on the same cable.

It looks like HDCP-enabled DVI brings higher bandwidth to DVI, in addition to some sort of copy protection.

Basically, DVI will work fine for the Xbox 360, and the PS3 as far as I know. You wont see any benefit of HDMI, unless the new Dells will also have a 5.1 decoder/amp in them

i would think component is better, as it has audio as well.

but dvi is still solid too. also the tv has an impact.

U have NO idea what r u talking about..
DVi > component, since dvi keeps the signal flowing in digital domain. Most eyes wont see the difference though, component is pretty good... But neither DVi nor component passes audio, only HDMI does..

Well, even the 3007 won't have HDMI. It will have HDCP over DVI at least. So, it isn't such a huge deal to get a HDMI adapter for the video component of it all at least.

The 3007 isn't so great, unless you have a HD cable box with DVI out, or unless you are going to just use it with a dual-link DVI-enabled video card on a Computer (reasonable assumption at least). The ONLY input on the monitor is the DVI. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/3007WFP/EN/index.htm

I thought the HDCP is HDMI but the "HDCP" is the copyright protection of HDMI.

I want the 2407 with HDCP input.

hdcp isnt an input, its the protection and can be on either dvi or hdmi.
