Will this APIC Card Work with my Board

Hi,
I've found APIC Card Modules for DUal CPU Function on Ebay and On the Internet.
I have a Matsonic 7070SD Dual P3 Board. But the thing is those APIC Card modules are for the PC Chips M720 and 750

Will my board work with that APIC Module? It seems like the card would fit.

Would it even be worth it btw? It's gonna cost about 50 bucks with shipping. And then it'll cost me about 70 bucks for a P3 550 cpu. So 120, and I'll have Dual 550 p3
I run lots of dual tasks and win2k.

Or should I just wait and buy a New Athlon or p4 next year?

I don't understand this at all. On a Pentium II/III, the APIC is built into the CPU. So what's this chip doing?

Remember that with the Intel chips, you're supposed to have a matched "s-spec" (I think this roughly means stepping) as well as frequency, and so matching a new chip with an old chip is tricky business.

It would seem to me that you should be able to get a whole dual S1 or S370 motherboard for around $50 that won't need any of this. This would make getting these APIC modules not a cost-effective choice.

For not much more than $120, you can buy a socket A motherboard and an Athlon XP 2100+ CPU, and you'll get as much or more performance boost in Win2K compared with trying to add a second CPU. PLUS, a dual CPU system is not going to be as stable as a single CPU system, so unless you specifically need/know how to use the dual CPUs, you're probably better off putting the money into buying the fastest STABLE single CPU setup you can.

Oh yeah, you don't understand

The LocalAPIC in the CPU needs an IOAPIC counterpart in the chipset - which used to be a separate silicon entity.

That said, Matsonic is just a retail brand of PC-Chips gear. It's the same thing. So feel free to use it.
But cmetz is right in that $50 buys you an Athlon board (even one that lets you use your existing RAM), and $70 buys you a pretty neat Athlon CPU and heatsink/fan. (The stability thing is nonsense though, stability is a function of build quality, not number of CPUs.)
