Curious as to if this computer will play world of warcraft fairly well, or if it will lag massively or not play it at all.

I would recommend at least 1GB of memory, and a real video card, that computer only has integrated video. So the answer would be yeah it would probably run it but not to your liking.

RUN TO THE HILLS! That computer is not a good deal. You can get one that will game 5x better for less money.

Really? Care to show any links or anything? I would really like to see the computers you are suggesting. Please PM, or leave a message on this thread.

Thanks!

You could (or have a friend help) build your own pc for around that price that would
do circles around it before it ever started. With the recent price drops of the AMD dual
core chips, you could build for possibly less money and not wait for the mail in rebate.
Here is a sample setup: (prices taken from newegg.com)
AMD X2 3800 $160
Generic Case w/ Power Supply $50-75
1 gb PC 3200 ram (2 x 512 chips) $60
NEC 3550A DVD RW $35
Biostar TForce 6100 motherboard $70 (use the integrated graphics until if you want to
save money now and buy a video card later)
Samsung 160gb hard drive $55
Windows XP Home OEM $90
XFX PV-T73G-UDE3 Geforce 7600GT video card $180

dph1077, your build does not include a printer, but I tend to agree with you anyway.

I wondered about WordPerfect as well. I thought it died a long time ago. I doubt it can match OpenOffice anyway.

Haha, thanks for the help and input but trust me there is no way I would be able to put together the computer :/. I have never even peeked inside one before

All you really need to know is which end of a phillips screwdriver to grab and how to read. You're on one of the best sites in the world to learn how to do it. If you're on a budget, start here for info on various compnents. The rest is really easy... and you've got lots of help on these forums. All you have to do is ask.

You'll need:
  • A CPU and motherboard.
  • RAM.
  • A video card.
  • A hard drive.
  • An optical drive (DVD or CDR). A burner is best, and good ones are cheap.
  • A case and power supply.
  • A monitor.
  • A floppy drive (optional, but cheap and still occasionally useful).
  • An OS (Windows XP). Your purchase of the hardware will qualify you to buy an OEM copy, which will save you around $50.
Most new motherboards have onboard network (NIC) built in sound. If you want better sound, you can buy a better sound card later, once you get your basic machine up and running.

One more thing -- If you live anywhere near a Fry's Electronics, you can get most or all of what you'll need at VERY good prices. Their regularly priced items are not necessarily that cheap, but their specials can be super. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://newspaperads.mercurynews.com/ROP/Subcat.aspx?cat=3339&subcat=3525
<b">">Here's their weekend ad for San Jose, Ca</a>. You can often find a decent CPU and motherboard combo for $70 - $80 and 1 GB of good RAM for $60 - $70.

Of course, you can spend more for even better performance, but you can probably put a system together for $500 that will run rings around your current setup.

Unless you are keen on learning and will take your time to research everything dont even bother building your own computer. You will spend more time getting it to work right than playing on it. Just buy a Dell E 510 in one of those dell delas for around $ 500 with monitor and slap a nice graphics card in there and you are good to go.
