Will this PSU Work? CORSAIR 650TX 650W (Newby)

Alright basically I want to know if this power supply is compatible with the computer I'm gonna be getting, I'm a complete newby with computers so I want to know if the wiring and all that will be compatible.

That will be compatible yes, and a good choice

You probably have them already, but you need monitor, keyboard, speakers, mouse, and most importantly, an OS

If you want to overclock, get an aftermarket cooler such as Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro or Xigmatech HDT-S1283.

I would change the HDD to a 640GB Caviar Black.

Nice choices for heatsinks, but I'd think the next step up in Xigmatech, the HDT-1284EE, might give a little more cooling capacity over the three heatpipe version. Of course, there is the "king" of air cooling heatsinks, the TRUE, but the price is pretty much double the Xigmatechs.

Just an FYI, the 4/8 pin mobo cable is short compared to the other cables so you may have trouble routing it well and away from other components.

No, It's still a good choice and will work fine, it's just not long enough to get routed around too many components, meaning that it will be harder to hide.

No, It's still a good choice and will work fine, it's just not long enough to get routed around too many components, meaning that it will be harder to hide.

Yea just get creative. Not that hard with zipties and some basic problem solving skills. It's a great PSU and my 4-pin mobo connector is in the same place as the UD3P so there are easy ways to route it.

It is a great PSU but if you are getting it from newegg you are paying way too much.
You can get the Corsair 750TX for $80 after rebate from Provantage.com.
Same PSU, just bigger and badder for the same price as neweggs 650TX

I think you're referring to the fact that most PSUs aren't operating at peak efficiency below 20% of their rated load. The bad things are:

• Wasted money for too much PSU

• Wasted electricity

• Increased case temps due to excess energy lost to heat

That said, the inefficiencies of a modern, high-quality power supply probably aren't enough to get too concerned over, especially if you're planning future expansion such as adding a second video card or a RAID array. It is more of a concern if your system runs 24/7 or if your average load truly isn't getting near the 20% mark.
