So you already tested the 3 DIMMs at 2T bus turnaround with memtest86+? And it passed memtest86+, but crashed when you were playing counterstrike?

no no no, i never ran memtest with the 3 dimms, im just saying when i had the 3 dimms in there, i didnt see any problems, and counterstrike worked at first, i played it for about 2 or 3 hours, and then it froze on me...i started to look on google for the answer, and they said it was because of dual channel memory, i took out the extra stick, and left just the 2 dual channel kits, and it still froze, so thats when i realized i had the 2 dual channels in the wrong slots.

But i dont plan on putting all 3 back in again, especially after reading in the manual that it can cause errors, so right now, i just have the 2 dual channel sticks in there, in slots 1 and 2, and im about to run memtest on it now...

Please select the identical memory modules to install on the dual channel, and DO NOT install three memory modules on three DIMMs, or it may cause some failure.

directly from your mb manual, page 2-8

read the manau first next time and learn:disgust:

Try it. The manual was printed before D and later stepping processor cores came out that suppported different numbers of DIMMs and ranks per channel. Also, just because windows boots and doesn't puke when you're on the desktop doesn't mean that there aren't memory errors. That's one of the reason programs like memtest86+ exist.

Yes. The memory test your BIOS does is a very, very rudimentary test. A thorough memory test takes longer than 5 seconds to do, especially with 3GB of ram. Did you figure out how to install it onto the floppy? Just click the install.bat, type A: for your floppy drive, and enter should do it.

I ended up turning off the computer, because i didnt know what it was, and i didnt want anything to happen...

first, it said Verifying DMI pool...

then it scrolled down, and said things like:

DX : 1000
AX: 0001

and all kinds of weird stuff like that, and then each line flashed in order, until it got to the bottom, then it went back to the top and flashed again, repeating the cycle...

I assume thats not whats supposed to happen...

Did it boot off the floppy? It sounds like your floppy had bad sectors on it and the copy of memtest was corrupted. I've had similar errors with bad boot media. Do a full format of another floppy in windows to ensure it doesn't have any errors. Put the new floppy in the drive. Open My Computer, right click on 3/12 inch floppy, select format, and make sure quick format isn't selected. It will take a little while to format. Veryify DMI pool mean that the computer has posted properly and updated it's CMOS with some new configuration information. It usually happens when add/remove hardware or change a BIOS setting. You should be able to take the floppy out and boot windows. It won't screw up anything, if that's what you're worried about.
