Will Windows good/bad OS history repeat itself with Windows 8?

the biggest problem with Windows 8 is Windows 7. the vast majority of people are more than satisfied with Win7 and are'nt just gonna throw money @ a needless & yet unproven OS. Win8 was designed for the mobile market, not for desktops. Simple as that.

What I don't get is if Windows 7 was all that amazing, why do we still to this day have plenty of large corporations with Windows XP installed? It's been nearly 3 freaking years. I use this as proof that even if Windows 8 was a businesses' wet dream in terms of features (Metro disappears, performance improvements, tons of business features, Facebook blocker built-in etc...), plus the fact that Vista was perceived as "bad" where as 7 wasn't, they might bother upgrading in 2017 or something.

Windows 8 is faster - fact.
I like windows 8 user interface better - subjective opinion.
Thus I won't be using win7 any more.

windows 8 takes more mouse clicks to do some things - fact
i hate the UI - opinion

Time and money. And maybe to a lesser extent, compatibility. Many corporations are in fact jumping ship to Windows 7. Deploying and migrating operating systems takes a long time on a large scale. Many have already started the process and they'll be ready by the time Windows XP loses support.

I am in love with Windows 8. Well not really, but it seems really stable. I am using it every day and it has not crashed yet! I think Windows 8 would make a great PC for someone who never had one, or as an internet, youtube, e-mail machine.

If you have old software on your servers it is a lot of work to get ready to move to a new OS. I use a scanner at work and scanners are really bad for not working except with XP. We tried to get it to work with Win7 and it would not even run on a Win7 comptuer.
