Too bad X1950Pro isn't coming out until October. I don't want to wait 2+ months for a card that may not be much faster than a 7900GT.

The G80 could be out by then. I think these are late to the game.

How do you know the g80 will be out by then? I thought it will launch around the same time vista is launching like the r600

but no it will prbably be dual slot.

X1900 XT is not competion for the 7900 Gt though, different price point. X1950 Pro will be.

X1950 series are the 1st to use DDR 4 and also it has the 2nd version of crossfire which doesn't require dongle. Its now internal like SLI. It also has a much better quite cooler and the pro edition is a single slot. It also takes full advantage of 512bit ring bus with DDR 4 memory Bandwidth. The X1950XTX in theory should totally destroy the 7900GTX.

Also it comes out in August mid.

Not always how it works out in real life though.

Let me tell you something. I'll never bitch about a card being dual slot as long as it's throwing the hot air outside the case. I had to keep the case open for two weeks now no matter what cooling I throw at it as the temperature in my room doesn't seem to fall below 30C. My next card will definitely be a dual slot card.
What I do not know: will the "new" x1900xt with 256 MB memory be GDDR4; and the same for x1950Pro?

I don't understand this single-slot vs dual slot thing.

Why the fvck anyone wants a hot single-slot card that builds up heat in the case? Isn't exhausting hot air out of a dual-slot bracket far better? And as if anyone smart would install a expansion card that blocks airflow right beside a single-slot card. Geez.

Dude, know what your talking about.

The card is using 256bit GDDR4. NOT 512bit GDDR4 which is VERY expensive. The ring bus doesnt have much to do with this but its mostly about reducing memory latency. All it is that the GPU is 512bit internally, than it maps out to a 256-bit 8 channel memory interface. I guess all X1 series support up to 256bit memory interface. For a 512bit it would need a 1024bit ring bus. Quote me if im wrong.

And i guess ATi decided to copy NV with the internal connector. I was wanting more of dongless/no bridge etc crossfire. They just straight off copy NV.

The G80 is set to hit around september/october even before Vista is released. Its going to be on 90nm i believe.

I wasn't talking about 512bit memory but ring bus which every X1800XT to X1900XTX has ;( . Only real high knowledgeable enthusiastic would understand what I was talking about and i am not going to bother to explain what 512bit ring bus does because you probably wouldn't understand the technology. I am not even going to start to explain why a Internal Crossfire isn't possible for high end GPU unless your ready to fork out crap loads of cash. Ahh need to find a new forum ;(

WTF are you guys talking about? improve your reading comprehension.... No where did tuteja1986
say the X1950XT has a 512bit memory interface... it DOES have a 512bit ring bus JUST like the X1X00 series does.... The 1950 is just even more refined...
The X1950XT should smoke a 7900GTX since 9/10 a X1900XTX can...

Yes, but even dual-slots have intake fans, so you still can't install anything below it. So single slot uses two slots in essence, dual-slot uses three. By using a dual-slot card I'm sacrificing TWO slots below my video card. No thanks.

not entirely true.
Current ati coolers take in air which is right in front of the card.(The dual slot ones anyways)Not from below.
The x1950 has an arctic silencer style cooler. That draws air from below.
