Basically zero. A 'secret' location used to test new technology isn't going to continue doing that once it's a known thing. More than likely there's been no real testing at that facility since the whole Roswell thing. I'm betting it's a boring storage/fuel dump at this point. Maybe some communications stuff to keep people employed.Really, what are the odds that anything of real interest is at Area 51? Even if there was something there at one time the Military would have to be staffed by nothing but morons to still have it there. The last place you want to store all your secrets is the one play everyone thinks the secrets are stored. Odds are if there was ever anything interesting at Area 51 it was moved to some non-descript warehouse in some out of the way place in South Dakota or Montana in the mid 70's.
Wasn't Area 51 where they were testing the Stealth F-117 NighthawK?Basically zero. A 'secret' location used to test new technology isn't going to continue doing that once it's a known thing. Not sure, wikipedia says the maiden flight was performed there but clearly that was in the public eye, if there's information on wikipedia about it. By that point we may have been past most of the 'build then test' phase of aircraft development, favoring computerized or math-based design principals with an eventual prototype which is virtually identical to final design. That's much different from the mil testing future-tech in a way that they don't want people to know about it, which is what A51 was originally used for (from my understanding). Usually with the govt if something secretive gets too bright of a light shone on it, they repurpose it in some way, which in my head is an example of this (exposition of new technology rather than secretive testing). I could be completely off-base here though.Wasn't Area 51 where they were testing the Stealth F-117 NighthawK?
There's no sneaking in or rushing 51, too many eyes in the sky and too many ears in the ground.
I hope this is just an out of control meme. Headstrong curiosity doesn't beat area denial units, high voltage or live ammunition in quantity. People will get hurt, maybe killed. Those signs aren't for show. DoE guys are allowed to kill people there.
As Foghorn Leghorn would say- It's a joke, son! You're supposed to laugh!
OTOH, as I see it, the real threat to national security would come from a night assault by a swarm of paragliders with sound systems blaring the Ride of the Valkyries for total confusion & demoralization of the defenders.
Chest, they always aim for the center. Much bigger target. It's still a really, really bad idea to attempt to access a military base without authorization. It's a great way to get shot in the head.
meme=joke
I laughed alright, just the half-hearted variety with head shaking. The kind produced watching ranks of flat earthers and antivaxers surge. It's not a stretch to think the UFO conspiracy nuts believe there is safety in numbers for them there, or that their yearning for 'the truth' somehow precludes them from getting shot.
Multitudes of paragliders, all blaring Wagner at 160dB? I like that better than the scenario a friend was hoping for: swarms of naked people wearing only tin foil hats surging into the area, just screaming and flinging bags of flour at the guards, 'Flour bomb!' Flour bomb!'
Stand Alone Complex, the Facebook group probably manifested itself out of errant 1's and 0's in the cloud, and has attracted a following. If the assault is even reasonably successful, expect FB to announce that it has become self-aware and has declared war on humanity. So what exactly is the joke here? I mean, I get that its some elaborate meme/joke about aliens at Area 51 and rescuing them, but where did this particular take originate from and why? It seems...interesting that there's a crisis where the US government is putting people in concentration camps (where conservatives claim they deserve to go because they're illegal aliens, also "Don't call them concentration camps because waaaaah its unfair to compare us to Nazis!!! We're the real persecuted people!!!"). Is it making fun of that situation? Is it trying to marginalize that situation? Is it trying to bring attention to that situation? Is it trying to poke fun at UFO alien true believers?
I guess my point being, I feel like this reeks of the typical Russian and white supremacist methods.
Anyone who thinks they can charge a US mil checkpoint has a big enough head to use it as the primary target.Chest, they always aim for the center. Much bigger target.
Is it trying to poke fun at UFO alien true believers?
I made a funny and you ain't-a-laughin'. I keep pitchin' em and ya'll keep missin' emAs Foghorn Leghorn would say- It's a joke, son! You're supposed to laugh!

Dear Lord, I never pray but please let these fools actually try this, amen.
Probably more like this:
I try to be kind, but the maudlin hand wringing makes me laugh. Google up Groom Lake, Nevada & check out the satellite view. It's 35 miles down a gravel road right smack dab in the middle of nowhere surrounded by some rugged desert landscape. Absolutely no water in the surrounding area. It's not like de gubmint will be getting surprised by some massive horde they couldn't plan on. The nearest town, Rachel, has a population of 54, so it would be hard to miss the crowd, if there is one.
That's a Bingo!
There's pretty established guidelines in situations like this, the mil has standard tactics to deal with unarmed, or armed mobs.I just want to take this seriously for one second to say, please god don't. I don't actually know what would happen if a large number of people, say 10,000+, actually did try to storm a highly secure military base, but I know it would be ugly on a scale we have not seen in several generations. It is the sort of thing that could easily end up in wide spread civil unrest. If they should actually do this the they we are talking about are going to be mostly young, and no matter how stupid we all agree they are for doing this they will have parents that are going to grieve for them. It is going to end up with a hell of a lot of very, very, angry people. Many of them that will feel that they have little left to lose. There is probably nothing more dangerous than a grieving parent. This is the exact sort of things that kicks off wars.
That's just the later memes making fun of it though. But that's what I'm asking. Is the entire thing a known sham? Who actually created what in this? My initial guess would be that it was just a random suggestion by someone on some UFO based group, and then they sought other people, but then somewhere it got amplified when mainstream (Reddit, etc) caught wind and then ran with it having fun.
We've seen similar behavior (where they take some minor or not even serious situation and deliberately try to make it into a point of contention or use it to seed rhetoric via supposed "joking/trolling") by Russian meddling and white supremacist groups, and both have ties to the UFO conspiracy shit (the Russians literally created the UFO conspiracy stuff to begin with, and white supremacists seem to peddle in conspiracy theory to a high degree; there's marked similarities between the forced alien human breeding shit and racist interbreeding rhetoric). So it makes me feel like one (or both) of those groups probably were the ones that amplified it. There's also the angle that this seems like its intentionally trying to make light of the very real situation of the government putting immigrants in prison like facilities. Plus it stirs up conspiracy theory garbage inherently. And there seems to have been at least some legitimate push for people to really do this, which would lead to a very real situation where people could get harmed (which would sow further issues, and possibly create another "crisis" situation that government would have to deal with, taking heat off of a certain President).
Like I said, something about this seems very off. But in this bizzaro Twilight Zone we're currently stuck in, I can't tell how much was real organic goofing off, how much was legitimate at all, and how much might have been manipulated and by whom.
