Sirhan Sirhan!?!

As in, the douche that shot Bobby Kennedy?

Yup, Ol' Bill Ayers is definitely somebody I'd want to pal around with.

And the next time I hear Ayers and the Weather Underground described as "anti-war activists", I'm going to hurl. From the article:

I bought up the subject of what's going to happen after we take over the government. We, we become responsible, then, for administrating, you know, 250 million people.

And there was no answers. No one had given any thought to economics; how are you going to clothe and feed these people.

The only thing that I could get, was that they expected that the Cubans and the North Vietnamese and Chinese and the Russians would all want to occupy different portions of the United States.

They also believed that their immediate responsibility would be to protect against what they called the counter-revolution. And they felt that this counter-revolution could best be guarded against by creating and establishing re-education centers in the southwest, where we would take all the people who needed to be re-educated into the new way of thinking and teach them... how things were going to be.

I asked, well, what's going to happen to those people that we can't re-educate; that are die-hard capitalists. And the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated. And when I pursued this further, they estimated that they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these re-education centers. And when I say eliminate, I mean kill. 25 million people.

I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees from Columbia and other well known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people.

And they were dead serious."

-- Larry Grathwohl, former member of the Weather Underground

It's a blog. Point being? There are high resolution scans from Ayers' book. Are you saying the documents were forged?

Right there I'm calling BS on your author's blog and his story.

American revolutionaries have an historic habit of wanting to lead their own revolutions.

Your boy's blog is badly written bullshit, bub.

The quote is not written by the author of the blog, it's from an interview with Larry Grathwohl, who was undercover in the WU. Did you not see the YouTube link before the transcript?

WHO THE FUCK CARES? I don't care if it's forged or not, because Ayers isn't running for anything, I couldn't possibly care less what he did or did not do when it comes to deciding who I'm going to vote for.

You want to know why you guys are losing this election so badly? It's because you think THIS constitutes convincing campaigning.

If that's the case, why the attempts to link McCain to Keating, Palin to Pat Buchanan and the AIP . . . etc. etc. etc., ad nauseum?

For that matter, why in the hell was W's DUI 20 years ago such a huge deal, but the fact that Obama has admitted to cocaine use during the same time period is water under the bridge, nothing to see here, yadda yadda.

I can understand wanting to win, but I sure don't understand the blinders people are putting on around here about Obama, his past, and his associations. McCain wasn't my fifth, sixth, or even seventh choice, and I'll be the first to admit that the guy has serious warts, but it would take an act of God to have any of you guys give even an inch about Obama. And you wonder why some Republicans mock him as the Messiah?

I don't think any of the issues you mentioned are valid considerations either. But the difference is that none of that bullshit has been the CENTERPIECE of the Obama campaign the same way attacking Obama with stuff like Ayers has been the core of the McCain strategy.

In the interest of being fair, there are things I don't like about Obama. I wish he was a little more experienced and that he had a longer political history to judge, and I wish that Republicans would bring up real issues like THAT instead of ridiculous stuff like Ayers.

Desepertion? What's that, a medical condition?

Don't worry, you can get that taken care of under single-payer as soon as BHO is running the show.

I can think of nothing less informative than talking about what some guy who Obama doesn't know that well did several decades ago. I'm fine with people making informed decisions, but if those decisions are based on THIS, those people are idiots.

McCain has only recently brought Ayers up. In point of fact, in the third debate. So to say that he was a "centerpiece" of the McCain campaign is an exaggeration.

I didn't figure it would. You don't strike me as the type who would mind mooching off of others. You're welcome, in advance.

McCain himself is hardly the entire campaign. In fact I was surprised to see him bring up Ayers even then, as dirty politics is usually handled by someone else.

Tell me I'm wrong though. Not about Ayers in particular, but in the fact that the McCain campaign seems to be a mirror image of the Kerry campaign in 2004...in other words, it's almost entirely about going after the other guy. McCain is "anybody but Obama", all the more so because I've met many Republicans who dislike him but are voting for him anyways.

How about people who worked closely with them and launched their political careers from a WU founder's house?

This has been refuted. Obama said it was not true.

Yes, but was it "seared into his memory"?
