M$ fucking lied to me again. Told me that everything was just peach keen to upgrade, and that my system was completely compatible with W10.

They lied, my fucking bluetooth was not compatible, and now I don't have my bluetooth earbuds to listen to.

Fuck you M$

Like...the Bluetooth receiver doesn't have a driver in Device Manager?

The amount of anger and hate over something given to people for free is rather bizarre. Is this because of the whole entitlement mentality or something people have these days?

I think that you've nailed it along with the fact that people are too lazy to research the facts prior to committing to something and end up in remorse afterwards once they realize their mistake. Then again some people refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions and blame everyone around them when things go awry.

I'm pretty sure he was joking, guys. Well, joking while pointing out that the tools can miss stuff like this. That's how I read it initially and it makes a lot more sense.

Or look to the manufacturer for a driver. Not all manufacturers publish their drivers to windows update.
Driver comes from Dell, no update.

Downloaded latest version, (2010) and poked through all the files. In the Win64 directory I found an inst.exe, and ran it. Slipped the driver right in and W10 didn't protest. Bluetooth works again.

Well last night I performed a clean install on my laptop with the latest fall update iso and it went well. I did notice something with my tablet that I can't seem to correct. Everything looks normal but when I try to play a sound on it I receive an error message. Removing and reinstalling the sound driver has no effect. The sound icon appears in the notification area normally and there aren't any yellow exclamation marks in device manager so I'm a bit baffled by it. I discovered it when I tried to play some music on iTunes with it. Anybody got any ideas? I've googled the problem and have seen where other people have reinstalled the driver or removed the device and then re-added it all of which haven't worked for me.

A friend of mine had her laptop hard drive die on here. It had 8.1. She doesn't have the key or a Windows 8.1 install disc. I've helped her with a new SSD in the laptop but all I have for her to use is Windows Ultimate 64. Can I upgrade it to Windows 10 ?

If it's 7 ultimate then yes you can and use the key with the 1511 revised update to clean install 10. Most OEM"s place a sticker somewhere on their pc's with the software key on it. Since it's a laptop it might be in the battery tray or on the bottom somewhere which would allow you to use the original rather than committing another os to the hardware.

It's Vista Ultimate. I don't mind giving it away and committing it to the laptop.

Say if I wanted to re-install Windows 8, or whatever she had, where would I find a clean file to use?

Didn't find the key.

I've worked on some Win8.1 systems that had no certificate of authenticity of product key on the outside. Some newer systems have it embedded in the EFI/BIOS.

You'll need 7 home or higher to get the free upgrade to 10 otherwise she'll have to buy a new os. The win 7 forums had good copies of all versions of windows, however if you can find her key you can get it directly from ms using it.

Would it be called "Product configuration ID" ? Or "UUID Number" ?

If it's one of those then do I get Windows 10? Do I have to go through a Windows 8.1 install first, then upgrade to 10? I/she doesn't have the Windows 8.1 disc

What are the big digs with windows 10?
Are we really taking flight?
Contemplating switching to windows 8.1 , so i heard it was a better compatibility for gaming.

Here I go again. I was working with an excel file in excel 2016 on my laptop and I tried using bing maps to create a world map chart to be unique for my presentation. In the middle of working with this file excel locked up unexpectedly and it had an adverse effect on my office install plus borked my ability to use system restore. Whatever happened has caused me to start another clean install of 10 and this is getting old. So as I type on my desktop I am clean installing on my laptop. This time I will not install the amd crimson driver and will only install office 2013 pro rather than 365 with office 2016.

I just wanted to say that I tried sleeping my desktop earlier today and 10 actually did it right. When I woke it up everything worked like it was supposed to without any driver issues. The same can be said for my laptop which also wakes up without any issues.

Edit: MS just released another round of cumulative updates for 10 and office 2010.

My experience with the windows 10 was not good that's why I just downgrade my windows to 8.1. The major issue was with my sound when ever I play any audio and videos I have to first mute and then un-mute the sound from the control button. But the speed is very good.

Sounds like driver issue try updating drivers or clean install of Win10, my experience with three Win10 upgrades have all been fine.

I'll say it is always easy to blame the OS and that goes for Win7,8,10 or any OS you care to name, but truth told in most cases a clean install or driver update normally fixes the issue.

Remember drivers are down to the manufacturer of the hardware in question, the OS cannot fix everything.
