just recently installed the two OS on my comp, Win Me on C:, Win 2K on D:. Win 2000 seems to be running fun, can play games and all apps run well. But the prob is that my Win ME, which is suppose to be the gaming platform for my comp, can't play any games at all!! i went to the Direct X diagnostic test and and went to test out Direct Draw + Direct 3D then it will just go into a black screen, same as what i experience when i play Halflife,Hitman,Re-Volt,Colin McRae Rally 2,Fifa 2001.

need help here guys.
system settings as below:
Abit KT7-RAID
IBM Deskstar 75GXP 46.1GB HDD, 2 partitions with FAT32
WinME/Win2K dual boot.
Detonator 3(v6.31) (tried 7.17, still can't)
VIA Service Pack 4.24(tried 4.25,4.27 also can't)
DirectX 8.0 ( tried formating and not installing DirectX8,using DirectX7.0a, still can't work)
SBLive! Value
Creative GeForce 2 GTS

hope u guys can help out here.

I had a similar problem on my Dual-Boot machine with Win 2000 and Win98se. I could not play Direct3d games in Win 2000 using the Creative drivers with CL G2 GTS. But once I installed the Detonator drivers in Win 2000 only I was able to play the same game on both OS platforms. Try installing the Creative drivers in ME and try playing the game? Hope this Helps!!

tried what u told me. still can't play Direct3D games. i installed the 6.34 Creative drivers and the Creative 6.18 drivers, still can't play D3D games. but Q3A works fine. i suspect it's a directX prop/compat prob?

went to install win98SE over ME, tried everything else again, still can't get it working.

need advice.

Frustrating problem, I just went thru this myself recently. Like you, I thought I tried everything. It turned out to be my video driver for the Geforce SDR I was using at the time. When you install the new video driver, make ABSOLUTELY sure all the files are overwritten, ie. check the file versions manually. You can also do a manual uninstall by changing to the generic PCI driver and deleting ALL the driver files. For me, the driver that finally worked was the stinking one that came with the card, LOL.

My problem really cropped up when I noticed that Win media player 6.4 and 7.0, as well as real player froze up whenever I tried to play ANY movie, ie. mpg or avi. Does your system play these?

You guys installed WinMe/9x and Win2k on seperate partitions/drives i hope? Otherwise you are going to get driver conflicts in the pathnames etc.

I dual boot WinME/Win2k and everything works fine (SBLive! & TnT2Ultra)

My media player also froze when playing movies.. but that was before i dual booted.. maybe its just a fluke bug like all Win9x OS's?

I put my WinME on first and got everything working. Then added W2k in the same partition with the dual boot option and I have no probs. I have a Radeon 64 with the W2k drivers in W2k and the WinME/98 drivers on WinME. I installed DX8 from the W2k side BEFORE loading my video drivers. I know this doesn't help, but if you get to the infamous "format C:" then you might try this install.
