Win 7 64-bit & Gaming?

I don't think you'll have any problems with 99.99% of games in Windows 7 64. There's a few recent titles that are hopefully broken, at least, I could never get them to work. Fallout 3, for example. But, others have it running fine.

Act of War has been the only game I have not gotten to work on Win 7 64bit. After some research it turned out to be a ram issue (game will not play with more than 2GB present) and not a 64bit issue so there you go.

Anything new or recent should be fine, but if you have a decent sized collection of old games that you'll actually play you're a lot more likely to run into problems that many of the posts in this thread indicate. I posted a summary of my experiences with testing about 90 of my Windows games under 64-bit Windows 7 in another [post=30426227]recent thread[/post] here. I sorta regret getting the 64-bit version of Windows. I'm not sure being able to use the last 0.75Gb of RAM on my machine is worth the few compatibility problems I did have.

More importantly than game compatibility is hardware compatibilty, though. Make sure your printers, USB devices, and anything else you connect to your PC has 64-bit Windows 7 drivers available.

Hi mate, I just got it run under Win 7 x64.
use the fan-made installer.

Download this archive http://folk.ntnu.no/bjarner/Grim/GRIMDATA.rar and overwrite the files in your install directory with the files from the archive.

At last, start the game using the launcher which came with the installer.
The starter is also fan-made and does a good job.

No compatibility mode, nothing like that, just run the game and enjoy.

Windows 7 64bit gamer and haven't had any issues with games. The only issue I have is my 6 year old HP laser printer driver didn't work because HP refuses to release a 64bit driver.

Win 7 Pro 64 bit here. Its working pretty good. I found XP Pro is easier to locate things when it comes to figuring out how to DL and install game mods and changing things within the files of those mods. W7 is not quite as intuitive IMO. In XP Pro its just easier to find things and change it. W7 is a good product but I consider XP Pro just a tad slightly better and easier to use. Just my own opinion.
