Definitely nice for those with .edu accounts. Id buy one myself, but I found win7 to have some serious gaming flaws, so I reverted back to XP. Fail Microsoft in that respect. They lost my purchase.

Really? Like what?

I've been gaming on Vista x64 with no problems for 2 years or more now and have been thinking of migrating to W7 for the advanced SSD support...

There are some noted issues in Win7 regarding gamma changes in games and anything else that might require gamma changes. People, like myself, oldschool gamers who still run CRT monitors for 150ish FPS in games often run into darkness issues in nvidia drivers that need to be changed. In win7, you cannot do this. This makes anything that would require gamma changes nearly impossible. It forced me to revert back to WinXP.

This issue I believe only affects people with CRT's. However, it is noted that you still cannot change gamma in games if you wanted to regardless.

That is the only issue. I also noticed my FPS seemed a little lower in Win7 as well, but that was not the main reason I reverted back.

Well damn, I was having some trouble calibrating gamma settings in Win7 (yet everything is perfect in XP) and now I see why.

I use Win 7 and it has numerous compatibility issues with even last gen games, whats worse is that there is often a sig decrement in performance on dx9 games... So you're right, you likely were getting lower fps.

Previously, when I read this kind of stuff it just made me laugh. Now, I think you are wasting everyone's time. Seriously

Why? Did you not understand? Why would I buy an OS when they cant even figure out how to allow people to make gamma changes....Everything else worked great, apart from slightly lower fps as mentioned. for you for not being able to comprehend what I was saying.

Now this is something I can get behind. I've run linux exclusively for 6 years now. I'd like to get into some games that just don't cut it under Wine and this gives me the perfect opportunity.

What method did you use to purchase the license key? Was it this promotion?

An FYI, if you buy any of the language packs, they're for Office 2007 (which is kind of bogus).

It can be used as a full install. I just purchased another today. If anyone wants this I can help you out. It comes to $32.35 with tax. I can burn it to DVD for you and mail it. You will have to pay for the dvd and postage. You can also pay a total of $46.35 and i can mail the disk that Microsoft sends me. Yes they charge an extra $14.00 for the disk. You would be looking at $40.00 for me to burn it and mail it to you on a DVD . Just pm me and I can help you out. I am not making anything off this just trying to spread the deal around.

Seems crazy to me that their student price for Windows is $30, but the student price for MS Office is $80!

Got myself an australia.edu email address. Was able to get the link sent to me but upon trying to checkout at Digital River, I keep on getting 'Payment Authorization Failed'. I've tried several different credit cards. Anyone have the same issue?

I wonder if DR caught on to this finally and won't accept orders from that domain.

Same happened to me when I tried a few days ago. Tried two different cards. I thought it was maybe server issues and was going to try again, but I forgot about it. Guess I dont have to try again.
