Win 8 pro downgrade to Win 7 pro not installed on Lenovo desktop. Help! I'm desperate

I really need some help. I sold a Lenovo computer to someone. Model 3302XF8. Windows 7 Professional 64 was supposed to be preinstalled through downgrade rights in Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, and was supposed to come with a win 7 pro x64 disc according to the parts list for the computer but apparently it wasn't.

Today, this person emails me with this message. I don't know how to respond, I don't know anything about Windows 8. I guess I'm just stupid.

"When I booted the PC yesterday, I found that it booted into Windows 8 rather than Windows 7. I tried unsuccessfully to research/determine online if what I was seeing was, in fact, Windows 8, or simply a preliminary installation screen (that might allow for Windows 7 downgrade), before proceeding any further. Not wanting to go further, I waited to talk to Lenovo today, and they confirmed that what I was seeing onscreen was an existing Windows 8 installation. The problem I have is that I specifically bought this unit because it said that it had Windows 7 installed via Windows 8 downgrade rights. That, alone, wouldn't be a problem if the PC included the Windows 7 recovery disc set, but it doesn't. Can you please tell me what I need to do now in order to get back to Windows 7 Pro?"


I'm pulling my hair out as I don't know how to respond. I thought Windows 7 pro was preinstalled but apparently it wasn't it like Lenovo's Product Specifications Reference sheet says.

Can anyone help?

Where or how do they make a recovery disc. From my research it looks like you can't now with windows 8, only to a usb flash drive. If a recovery disc was indeed included with the computer, does it contain windows 7 pro on it as well?

If I had to guess, I'd say that they did a restore from the recovery partition on the computer (which has Windows 8). The laptop should have included installation media for Windows 7 since you purchased it with Windows 7 installed. If the laptop has a valid Windows 7 license sticker on the bottom, they can download the appropriate Win7 ISO from DigitalRiver (links to the different versions here) and install it using that license key.
