Win 98SE/Defrag problem

Here is the problem. I have a Sony Vaio laptop that I used Partition Magic 6.0 to divide up the 18 gig hard drive into 4 separate partitions. Everything went well until I went to defrag the C: drive. It will defrag up to 10% and then start over after a message saying that the "Drive Contents have Changed". I know this is a normal message. However, it is not normal for the Defragmenter to run all night long and never get over 10%. All other partitions degrag fine, only C: drive is giving me problems.
I have also added Norton A/V Corporate Version 7.03 to this system as well as a program called WebShots that is a screen saver program. I have exited Webshots and disabled Norton (to the fullest extent that I can) before running defrag to no avail. Anyone have any ideas here.

Check to see if you have Fast find in your control panel. It's normally installed with MS Office. If you do, disable it and then run your defrag. Fast find is supposed to speed up access to your files by creating indexes. Unfortunately it creates them during defrag causing it to restart.

Use "Ctrl-Alt-Del" and end task all programs except Explorer and Systray. Also make sure there are no icons on the task bar next to the system clock except for maybe the volume.

i'd second that. Try and disable your screensaver also.

I recommend Ctrl-Alt-Del as well... its probably Microsoft Find Fast... does it everytime!
