WHY reinstall?? It is unneccessary!!!!!!

Just take the hard drive out of the machine. Put it in another machine and delete the SAMS file. It stores all the passwords and account information. It will then let you create a new password for the admin account and then you can recreate his account.

Now you don't have to go through all the time it takes to reinstall.

I thought XP makes you create and Administrator account that has god access over everything that can be changed or deleted. If you login as that you should be able to do whatever you want to the accounts. Now if thats the forgotten password your gonna have to try one of those other ways.

If fast user switching is enabled, hit ctrl alt del twice to get the "normal" logon dialog, log on as administrator, use the Users and Computers MMC to reset the user's password.

well i am the admin of my network but my password doesnt work when i log on as admin on his comp. im not sure why but for whatever reason it doesnt work. Ok i can take his hd out and put it in my pc, but how do i delete the sams file ?

1. log out
2. press ctrl+alt+delete twice
3. a win2k style login box should appear. in the user name box type "Administrator" without quotes
4. press enter w/o a password

that *should* work, unless he changed the password for that account... if you want to, you can try entering random passwords like admin, administrator, pass, password, etc. and see if one of those work
