WIN XP PRO AND CHANGING IRQ ON PnP DEVICES

I've been trying to forcibly change the irq setting on some of my pnp devices. Specifically my ati radeon 64 ddr and my soundblaster live card. I've gone to the bios and done it there, only to have the OS (win XP) override my settings. In device manager, the resources tab is also faded out and unavailable. Is there a way to manually assign the IRQ's via the OS or its registry settings?

Win XP uses ACPI by default.
The only possible IRQ configuration in an ACPI system is for all PCI/AGP devices to use the same IRQ - this cannot be changed.
This is the correct behaviour and provides optimum performance.

I would advise that you do not attempt to change this - if you are desperate not to use ACPI (and are willing to lose the ACPI features such as hibernation, and standby) then I'm sure someone will tell you how to do it. It usually involves a reinstall of windows.

Would IRQ sharing on Win2K cause random freezings and the OS not recognizing some hardware? I'm currently having that problem.

IRQ 10 - Multimedia Device (On Board VIA AC 97 ?)
Network Controller (Linksys 10/100 Ethernet PCI)


IRQ 11 - Simple COMM. Connector (Think it's my US Robotics PCI Modem)
Display Controller



EDIT: I managed to move my ethernet card up a spot to the 2nd pci slot. Now Win2K recognizes it. Still need to get the Modem and Display controller to change.
