Today I fresh installed Win XP Pro on my system. Everything seems to be fine except that when I try to download files, it is very slow and it will not finish the download. Browsing websites seems to be fine but this is a major problem. I have Comcast@Home cable and a Linksys network card. What should I do?

try using a different browser, opera or netscape...maybe that can help pinpoint the problem

<< format your computer and reinstall everything. That's the best and clear way >>

Well I reformatted and did a fresh install. Nothing odd happened.

Shut down the computer, turn the cable modem off (or unplug it from the electrical jack...).

Restart cable modem, restart PC.

If it still doesn't work, kick the PC (or cable modem).

Problem fixed...

Went into Network connection properties, TCP/IP protocol properties, advanced, and unchecked "Register this connection's addresses in DNS".

Everything works fine now and thank you for the suggestions.
Maybe this can help others who have a problem similiar to this, I think I saw a few that did.

Ugh...

Nevermind the above comment...It seems that only worked for a few downloads, and once again I am left with only a short burst then stop.

If I download a file, it will start then stop or just never start. Webpages load really fast, then stop loading. There must be some network experts out there? Any ideas?

Have you tried d/l with something like DAP? Instead of reinstalling the entire OS you could just reinstall IE6.

DAP?

This really stinks, going from 3.2MB down/1.2MB up to not being able to download a file.
