You should see the yammering in the winxp beta newsgroup. A bunch of yahoos with nothing to do but beat on each other. Sh*t, it's worse than a bar fight.
It is entertaining, tho. Some have gotten emails, but the word is all WPP participants will get an email today with the location of the Download Manager and a login ID with a password. Some 100,000 have signed up for the WPP, and I expect that to avoid a meltdown MS is staggering the downloads. I'm in the program and I'm waiting just like everyone else.

Just a bit of advice for everyone waiting for Microsoft to email you the details about RC1. It'll probably go alot smoother and easier if you just download a warez copy now and wait for Microsoft to send you a valid key. This way you can avoid the 100,000 people rushing to get RC1 at the same time and bringing MS's servers to a halt for a week.

I'll just wait and get it from MS. Besides, I don't care for porn popups nor having it dribbled out at 3k from someone's crowded ftp. BTW, it's an almost 500mb ISO download.

Darn you guys are quick, took 3.5 hrs download @ 70-50K and slowing from MS, burning now. What do you guys usually use to burn this?

rmblam, saw that one. Used CDRwin, seems to be installing alright. As far as EZ 5 I have it but am leery of putting it on my gateway/server/burner box with Win2K Server due to the problems I've heard about EZ 5 and Win2k. Besides the Take2 bug anybody got EZ 5 running stable on Win2K?

Has anyone used nero to burn a bootable cd (dont have EZ 5)
Can you download it twice in case first one gets screwed?
Should have paid extra ten dollars to have cd mailed/ now I will probably spend 1 day downloading another half day trying to figure out how to make the cd bootable.

By the time I have it up in running 90 days is up

Yes the DL ISO is bootable. Yes U can Use Nero 5. There are excellent instructions on the DL site for each major burning prog, incl. Nero 5. That's what I used and I got a perfect burn.

You can resume a broken download but you can't DL twice. The site has a CRC checker utility you can DL to make sure U got the whole thing.

I'm on Bellsouth ADSL, and it took me less than 45 min to get it at 8:30 CDT last nite. Average DL speed btwn 150 and 160K.

for those folks would go out first with the opportunity to download.

IIRC, you had to sign up with MS Passport to enter the preview program, or
have a hotmail or msn account to send to. If you can't recall what Passport
account you set up I believe there is a way to contact passport support thru
the hotmail help screens.
I printed out my confirmation because I was afraid I'd do the same thing;
now I can't find the printout, but I know its around here somewhere. If
you have not cleared you browser cache after signing up, there is a chance
that the confirmation dialog is still in there if you know how to search
for it.

I downloaded mine last night here at work. We're on an OC12. I pulled it down in under 5 minutes at 1070KBps. No lie. Here's the screen shot.

You have to sign up for the WindowsXP preview Program here. You'll have to pay $10 for the download. You'll be notified by email about the link, login, password, activation key, and such. You could of course snag it from warez if you like. I prefer the real McCoy.
