well, if you surf a bunch of websites at a time, then another 128mb can't hurt. But if you just surf normally, 128mb would be the better choice.

Damn I was just getting some slowness with 128. As soon as I get the cash, I will buy another 128.

Neither... 384MB

I have two systems with Win98/W2K dualbooted. One is a PIII 550 w/192MB and the other is a PIII600E with 384MB. Under Win98 they are both about the same. Under Win2K, the machine with the 384MB is noticeably faster.

Realistically, you can get by with 128MB. 256MB would be alot better.

"RAM GOOD!"

well hrm..
50 more mhz and coppermine. Hrm...

anyhoo I went to a computer show to get another stick of 128mb in addition to my current 128mb but the ram was $20more than it was the last time I bought it so I just suffer now.

slight speed increase verses 150 bucks.
bleah I will suffer.
*sniff*

My point is that the difference is alot more noticeable than one would expect from 50MHZ and the fact that the 600 is a Coppermine.

Thanks for pointing that out though. I forgot what equipment I had.

Hmmmm, I dunno. On my system, I don't notice the difference between 192, 256, and 320 megs of ram. This coming from a guy who routinely has 10+ windows open while browsing the net. 128 does suck under win2k tho. I'd say go for the 256, but anything above will probably be unnecessary.

128 is decent i'd say. You can "feel" the difference 256 makes. My roomate had been using 32mb in w2k for half a year and well going up to 96 was so much better. More ram == better

You have a 800mhz processor for websurfing?

Get the extra ram man, you'll enjoy it. If it is going to stress you out financially, dont worry about it, but it will be nice to have.

128MB of RAM is decent.....256 gives you peace of mind when your OS has far more wriggling room. You might as well buy now, since RAM prices are supposedly heading up.

hey Andy, don't mean to say anything bad, but word "Hui" doesn't sound good at all in Russian language...

128mb may be fine for Win9x, but Win2k is a HOG. Speaking for myself, I noticed big difference running with 128mb and 196mb. If you can afford it, go 256mb.

Andrey: I believe Hui is AndyHui's family name. "Hui" is a common chinese surname. Remember readers of this forum come from all over the world.

Dude, if you're just surfing, forget the RAM and do something more fun with that kind of cash. I can't believe people are actually telling you to shell out $150 to "enhance" your surfing experience. If you have the cash to burn, and really have to spend it on a PC upgrade, I'd say only do it if you have broadband--otherwise, you're just waiting on your 'net conxn.
