Win2k and ATA 100

Hello!
Does anybody know a way to succesfully uppgrade Windows me to Win2k without switching back my IBM ATA 100 to 66.
Win2k setup says "could´nt find bootable device or something".
Any tips?

So, it works in 2k while set up as an ata-66 drive?

I had that error when moving from an ata-33 controller to an ata-100 controller in win2k. I'll go ahead and tell you how I fixed it, but it may not help your problem -

With the old controller installed and win2k working, go into the device manager and change the crontroller driver to "standard IDE controller". Shut down and boot with the new controller - it shouldn't give the "can't find boot device error" and will install new drivers for the new controller.

Does the "upgrade process" come up with the "blue screen" where you can specify extra SCSI drivers? If so that's where you should install extra drivers for your IDE controllers. Sorry I haven't done many upgrades as compared to clean installs.

When installing win2k pro on an Abit be6-2-revII with a built-in ATA 100 controller, I needed to press F6 during the begining of the install so win2k would know to ask for the driver disk at a specific point. I also had to enable the controller in the bios settings of the motherboard. Everything went well from that point on... hope that helps...
