Hi, i have this weird 'thing' with Win2k Workstation, When transfering files ftp i'll get
around 8-11000K/s using 1 session
when opening multiple sessions the The transfer
rate will be down by 50% , giving the same speeds on both sessions but cpu load will also be much lower. i've now tested this on 3 machines that's
in our lan,
using 3 sessions will use the 'half' bandwidth and
divide it amoung the sessions, ie 1.5-1.8Mb/S
1 main comp, 866Mhz Udma hdd, 256Mb, 100mbit FD
2 Dual 466 Udma 128mb 100mbit
3 P3 550 Udma 160Mb ram, 100mbit FD
I have Dualboot on the last machine, the 550, and
it actually outperforms win2k, when running 2
sessions under win98se. altho when using 1 session
the win2k blows it away.
The server is a fileserver and we've tested speeds
from 2 different machines and it maxes out the 100mbit network card its on.
the server is on a 100mbit FD and directly on the
switch, together with the 866 and the 550,
the dual is connected via another switch at hd.
i've tried using 2 different servers at the same
time and transfer speeds are very poor.
is this a known issue or does this only happen to me ? ;P
