WIN2k Hardware problems

Hi I'm new to Win 2k and I just installed it and I have been having a hell of a time trying to figure out why the hell all my 3d games won't work. but in Win2k they do. my system specs are the following:

Cel 566@632
Geforce ddr (runing the new detnator drivers)
Vortex 2 Sound Card
ESS ES56T Modem (cheap software modem)
Got 196mb of ram
30gig HD
A Shuttle AV11 MB which is a VIA I've installed the latest drivers for it.

ALso when I was looking thorugh the device manager I noticed that my modem sound card and Video card are all using the same IRQ which I think is the problem but it won't let me change thier settings. under Win98 they are not the same. Any help will be greatly apreciatied as I'm sick and tired of Win98

did you run the hardware check on the MS site, i recommend you do that first then see if all stuff is compatible.

nope its says it all compatable? The more and more I think about it its the IRQ's I mean on win98 I can play games be on the net and have mp3's blasting in the back ground. but in win2k I can't get 3d games working. And in StarCraft(the only non 3d accerlated game I play) the sound is kinda flacky when I'm playing net games and or playing mp3s in the back ground. Is thier any way I can force Win2k to let me change my IRQ's?

there is something VERY WRONG with your install of win2000. I play UT and Q3 everyday under win2000 with no problem at all.

A couple of devices sharing one IRQ is normal in Win2k... so that should not be your problem... Check and install the latest drivers for your 3D accelerator and soundcard, see if that helps...
