Win2k or WinXP?

I have a copy of Win2k that I can use and I was wondering if it would be okay to game on that for a while till I get a copy of WinXP? Is Win2k a good enough OS for gaming? Are there any limitations or instabilities/issues I have to worry about while gaming?

personally i like 2k over xp, but i had to switch to xp because of adobe....never had a problem with 2k, still running it on 2 other machines i have

2K is better IMO, but i think microsoft is about to axe support for it.

Yes, support is probably gonna die soon. I don't think it's in the list of OS's to be officially hacked, but who knows anymore.

I think it's eventually gonna get to the point where Bill Gates just asks you for maybe like a weekly paycheck. You will PAY and he will RECEIVE. That way no matter what OS you're using, he can be sure he's getting his money.


And, yes, I've been pissed to the 9's ever since we were all forced into 1 OS per machine. Works great for folks like me who play with about 10 computers at any given time!!! (And people wonder why there are hacks)

I've got 10-11 machines, and I have no problems with licensing.

I like XP simply because it starts up in half the time it takes for 2K to start up. Add to it the polished interface, the great PNP support for USB and firewire devices and I don't think I'd want to go back.

2K is better with your resources though. So if you're low on CPU and RAM, you might want to stick with 2K.

Trust me, Win2K will run all modern games just fine.

Unless you need a feature of XP, it's not worth the $ to re-licensing the machine. Stay with 2K.

Win2K until the wheels fall off and it's relegated to win ME joke status. Then maybe I'll upgrade. Win2k is perfectly suited to all programs, unless someone puts in magic code to only run on XP, of which I've seen two programs so far do that.

I believe that support for Win 2K ended on 6/30/2005 (Yesterday) But if you're ok with that, then yes, Win2k is fine
