Win2k shows COM1 and COM2 ports as conflicted...help!

I just installed Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 1 (5.0 - 2195 earlier today, and everything's working great, except for the fact that my COM ports aren't being read by the OS. Both of them show up with the yellow exclimation points, and neither work. I use COM2 to connect my Epson 750Z camera to my PC to retrieve pictures. I have a [rather old] Asus P2B mobo (i440BX chipset) and a p3-450mhz processor. I've tried 'upgrading' the driver within the win2k hardware device manager, by making it look at "windows update" for an update, and it actually did download and run 'msports.inf', but that didn't help me any. If anyone can help, please do! I really don't want to, but I might have to go back to Win98 if I can't get this problem licked...

You can always go to the BIOS to set the IRQs for Com 1 & 2 to be Legacy only. They are IRQ 4 & 3, respectively.

Well I would check the bios to see if the coms are enabled. Also are you using a modem what com does it have?

The COM ports worked perfectly in WIN98.. it's just that win2k is having issues with it.
I only have one device attached to COM2, and that is the cable for my Epson 750Z digital camera (to retrieve pictures). COM1 isn't in use.

I don't see why messing with my bios would be the only way to fix things...because I didn't have to alter any BIOS settings for it to work in win98...
