Guys, my advice is to just wait for it to appear on MSFT's website. You have no idea which build is on someone else's site nor what malware they might have added to the package. (Granted, the risk of malware is probably pretty low, but it's a thought.)

I have official rumors that say SP4 should be available really, really soon now.

*sigh* noggin, did you even go to that webpage?

anyways today microsoft released service pack 4 to the end user through their website. Windowsupdate hasn't been updated yet but you can download the files off of their server. I just installed and everything is working great. about 700 fixes included with sp4

You mean "off topic"? Did this really get locked? This is kind of funny, and I thought that even though there was all the nonsense happening in OT this was still supposed to be considered a "tech" forum.

It was locked in the General Hardware section. Which makes sense to me, since it isn't general hardware related... But, it is a good thread! Thanks for the link.

Noggin this is the official release. It was released to Microsoft Premier customers last night however one of them leaked the download link. These are the RTM bits. SP4 will be released to all customers on June 30th.

I'm currently deploying it.

Deploying it already? Shouldn't you be testing in a lab before you do that. I ALWAYS test any patch from any company in a lab before deploying it.

Anyone have a good slipstreaming guide for it? The one I used for all the previous service packs I'm having trouble finding. Thanks.

Nevermind, finally found it.

I tried it out by downloading from Windows Update tonight. ..(they just put it on the site) It killed my internet connection with my cable modem. Not sure why, but I uninstalled SP4 and internet works fine again. I use a Motorolla Surfboard 4100. I couldn't ping any sites nor would it work by unplugging the modem for a minute and plugging it back in to let it reset. Turned off McAfee Firewall to no avail either. Only uninstalling SP4 fixed it.

I just installed it on several machines, no problems that I see as of yet.

Using a Motorola SB4100 cable modem also (Linksys LNE100TX NICs, Netgear RO318 router)...

Ill try installing it again when I have time here.... Its kind of as if a firewall was preventing me from accessing any site, i could still see the modem on my system and the ip address but could not ping outside of my LAN.

Chadder, I have a similar problem, except I can ping and for some reason, file sharing programs such as kazaa and DC works, but slow, however just browsing the net is near impossible...I am using a Netgear FA310TX network card. For some strange reason my Action Link Homenetwork adapter works(its a phone line home networking adapter).

Here's one problem that was solved for me with SP4:

I used to have that Event ID 1000 error "Windows cannot unload your registry file. If you have a roaming profile, your settings are not replicated. Contact your administrator."

Once in a while I think this caused a blue screen during shutdown. I got the error every time I logged off. Now it's gone with SP4.
