Wow, not to sound stupid, which I'm sure I will, but I picked up my turtlebeach santa cruz 2 years ago and never saw the big deal with music quality... I went in to output and didn't even realize you could turn on hardware acceleration there (I'm not an audio guy) and suddenly the sound quality out of my logitech Z-560's is amazing... I was always wondering why I had a bit of staticy garbage coming through it.

Once again, I've learned something on anandtech

it's usually a setting on the player you use.

On winamp 2/5, click on options, preferences, and then output under plug-ins. Click configure, and turn it on in there. MAde a HUGE difference to me.
