I just wanted to highlight that this tablet also has micro-HDMI and runs full win8.1. It's in the specs list you pasted but not in your original description. I am using this tablet as my main desktop hooked up to a 24 inch monitor and it's been great.

That is a very good specs for that price. None of that big sacrifices to reach a cheap price point. 2gb of ram, real usb, 32gb of storage and not this 16gb nonsense.

---

Just a little rant, not saying this is a bad tablet, I have the asus t100 and I really like it (they have very similar hardware but 8" vs 10" and 32gb vs 64gb.)

That said this spec ratio is so close to being great. I really wish we had cherrytail out right now with a 50% cpu uplift (up to 2.7 ghz), 4gb of ram, better gpu, and faster nand. The atom z3735 and 3740 are good hardware but they are just not at the point where they are great hardware.

Yes it is amazing what you can get in such a small tdp and for such a cheap price, but I want more...

I wonder if core-m will scratch that itch, or cherrytrail when it finally comes out. Then again those will sadly be much higher price devices and not in the $100 to $200 range.

----

Oh it would also be great to be able to dual boot windows and android on a 64gb version, but there is no way in hell this is going to happen with microsoft and google being the way they are straight from the factory. Oh a working active digital stylus would also be nice, as well from wacom or ntrig with right click functionality as well

It will only take a few years to get what I want in the price that I want.

I'm using a Winbook TW700 (701?) the same way. It's pretty neat. I do wish I had the 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage, that would make life so much easier. Only $120, sigh. I only paid $59.99 + tax + gas + tolls to MC for mine.

Has anyone used this as well as the Dell Venue 8 Pro? I know the Winbook has the micro-HDMI and full-size USB ports which are definitely a plus, but how about basic things like touch-screen accuracy (where you touch on the screen actually registers? Versus say it's crazy unresponsive or inaccurate), battery life?, build quality? Thanks.

Can it actually go to the Hulu Full site and get free videos? or Amazon Prime for that matter.

I have not used a Venue.

Touch screen accuracy and out-of the-box calibration seem fine. I've never had any problems. Multitouch works.

Battery life is perfectly acceptable. I won't give any numbers because it varies so greatly depending on what I'm doing, and it always lasts long enough. One note is that standby is a little weak. I predict it looses a little over 1% an hour, so letting it sit around for days without turning it off does not end well. Boot is fast though.

Build quality is pretty good, but not amazing. I don't get any feeling that it's overly cheap like some of the bargain android tablets. However, there's no mistaking that it's plastic. Everything is lined up well and feels solid. I've been happy with the microcenter case too.

Yes. It's not a "mobile device" that is restricted on some services.

Hey, it looks like this is no longer an "in store only pickup" item! The page now lists "Usually ships in 1-3 business days".

Yes, it plays Hulu and Amazon videos just fine. I found one on clearance for $95 and feel like I stole it.

Thanks for the feedback, I may go pick one up this weekend. The built-in micro-HDMI and full-size USB ports seem like a unique feature of this model as compared to other 8" Win8 tablets.

Microcenter just started selling a new Winbook 8" tablet called model TW802. The current price is $129.99.
http://www.microcenter.com/product/440932/WinBook_TW802_Tablet_-_Black

There appears to be some confusion about the actual specs. For example, the description says it has a USB 2.0 port (as opposed to a USB 3.0 port like the TW801) and is GPS equipped, but commenters on other message boards are claiming that the full-size USB port is USB 3.0 and the tablet is not GPS equipped.

Other differences I see between the TW802 and TW801 in the specs include:
Baytrail-T Z3735F CPU versus Baytrail-T Z3735D
backlit screen
14.3 oz weight versus 13.05 oz
USB charging cable included

Can anyone clarify the actual specs?

I see similar with my Toshiba - enabling hibernation was the right answer for me. I have to remember to hibernate it, but then it's gtg for weeks and weeks.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings]
"ShowHibernateOption"=dword:00000001
"ShowLockOption"=dword:00000001

I have the Winbook TW801 from Microcenter and like it. I have a question for HappyMedium: which bluetooth keyboard/case are you using? I'm having trouble finding one that works well with this tablet. Thanks.

I've been playing with this for a few days now, I'm pretty impressed, I have gotten shadowrun to run on it as well as Witcher Enhanced Edition.

That's the one I bought for 30$. It works well.

Just popped in a 64gb micro sd card in for 20$ too, cheap average speeds but works great. Took about 9 days for delivery but for 20$ hey what the hell.
http://www.usadiscountwarehouse.com/product/new-64gb-micro-sd-card-sd-adapter-free/

Also tried it with my new usb 3.0, 64 gb flash drive ($30) and was getting like 80mbps speeds. Way faster than my usb 2.0 drive.

It also plays well with my usb 3.0 Seagate external drive.

This tablet just works, everything is compatable, I love it.

I have had a similar experience. SD slot is USB 2, so speeds are pretty run-of-the-mill. USB 3 seems to max out around 70-80mb/s

Anyone having any luck getting the newest win10 build on this? I keep getting a compressed operating system error, even tried a clean format and Google hasn't been much help...

Thanks. I bought what appears to be an identical unit under a different brand name. It works pretty well but keystrokes stops working. It appears to be the Winbook's bluetooth, not the keyboard. Cycling the Winbook's bluetooth off/on generally fixes it. When that fails, a reboot cures all. A little annoying but certainly not frequent or fatal.

Other than that infrequent glitch, I love the Winbook. It's not the most powerful computer but you can't beat the portability!

You may not have enough empty space on the hard drive.

I've got the 16GB TW700... I don't hold much hope for these units running a Win10 upgrade, since they use a hybrid method of storing the image. Unless "WinBook" releases an image, which will probably involve wiping the system clean. Of course, 32GB in this 800 model has a bit more room, but it sounds like the same issue.

If they do, we won't see new images until Win10 is officially released.
