I'm planning to try and overclclock in the next few days when i have a better understanding of what i am doing.
hoping to gain at least 2.5Ghz with 277x9

I understand that 1:1 would give you FSB on the DDR of 277Mhz. PC4000 is 250Mhz, so i would need a divider of 166. How do you calculate the acutal speed of ther DDR in Mhz with a 277FSB and a divider of 166?

Athlon 64 3000 Winchester
MSI Neo2 Platinum w/ Bios 1.41mod

Up 5% means your VID (Vcore) is up 5% what its set to. The default is i think is 1.50 though CPU-Z and MSI corecenter will read around 1.40v. I have my VID set to 1.525v I think with +10%. CPU-z and MSI corecenter say that is 1.60v. If I had to guess I would say that you are probably around 1.44v, what does CPU-z say?

umkay, wow so yours is actually accurate. kick ass. you still have a bit O' volts to play with if you want to take that route but I believe your memory is going to end up being a limiting factor. besides at 2646MHz 294x9 you are already haulin ballz

I have almost the same setup as you hehe.
AMD 3000+ Winchester
MSI Neo2 Platinum
1 Gb Corsair XMS PC 3200
XFX 6600GT agp

I will try overclocking it past 2.4ghz, It has been just randomly rebooting in the middle of a high-load program. I tihnk my ram is running too high I dont have it set to any dividers, this is the top choice in the Cell > Ram settings in the bios right? So far my temps are fine with 35C idle and around 42C underload with a XP-90. I just need to do alot of testing, sometimes it wouldnt go past the POST and froze before the windows load screen.
Have you guys bumped up the voltage unless the comp wasn't booting? Also anyone else experience random reboots while overclocked? My CS:S Sometimes freezed up or comp just rebooted after a few minutes. Its not the PSU I have an Antec 400W, and not that many components.

go make sure your LDT(HT) is set to 3x and set your memory divider to 166. crashing most likely means that you arent at a stable OC. You should not have reboots unless you are unstable. I don't have reboots.

As for voltage. I only raise it after I find I can get no more out of it at stock Voltages. for me that was 280x9. It will be different for everyone.

nice

the 298x9 2682 is the setting i would leave it at. It should be the fastest. Remember max bandwith doesnt mean a whole lot if you cant use it. the 298x9 should be the best setting.

as for the VGA stuff, i started having problems retaining my video settings after 295x9. windows would boot up like i never even set the resolution 1024x768x32. it boots up in safe mode resolution. that is the only thing stopping me from my 2700MHz. cause i prime fine at 2700 and games play fine too. i just have to re-do my video settings after every boot. i guess my video card isnt happy or my agp lock's performance dwindles at high HTT freqs. I dunno

Free image hosting up to 1 MB.

you can do better than that...try newegg or search pricewatch.

The motherboard is $148 shipped but it currently out of stock... the CPU is $149 OEM... so $297 plus I'd have to buy a heatsink/fan for it.

The combo at ZZF is for that motherboard with the retail processor for $304.
