Winchester 3200+ overclocking

I recently purchased winchester 3200+.

Steppings are :

ADA3200IK4BI
CBBHD 0444XPMW


Has someone tried overclocking this specific stepping?

If so, please post your results.

all winchester steppings are the same (?)

it is heavily dependant on which week you get, later is better

you have a week 44, year 2004 chip.

id say you did pretty good

I have the same week (44) and this is what I've got so far: I'm a bit leary to start messing with the vcore (I'm a first time OCer), but I already have mine up to 240x10 running my cheap mushkin PC3200 at 1:1. It is prime stable and I have been trying out different HTT, but I still am hesitant to raise the vcore/vdimm...

How do I check what week my 3200 is ?

On the top of the actual CPU, the steping is all listed out. You look for the 4 digits in the middle of the second column (usually 04--) which secifies the year and week. You cannot see it with a heatsink on, though.

I have a week 44..xphw...it maxes out at 2550....

This has already been said in the past but I guess I'll bring it up again. The main factor in how good your chip is does not depend on the week, but is mostly dependent on the location of your CPU on the wafer and other higher frequency (more often then week to week) variations. Week to week the quality of the CPUs change, but not as much as it does from one part of the wafer to the other!

you can use a program called cbid

it'll tell you the week

or check the heatspreader on your chip.

I don't know off hand. Supposedly, there's a way to decode the codes on the CPU into some meaningful information related to wafer quality, but I honestly don't have any idea. Search some of the other more popular overclocking forums, I've seen some information there about this type of thing but I believe it's mostly speculative since no one has come out to say XXXX is from the center of the wafer with higher purity while YYYY is from the sides with lower purity.

I only have a week 41, and it does 2.6Ghz stable at stock voltage. Will boot into windows at 2.7, but is not stable no matter what.

Week 41, 2.65GHz @1.5V Folding@Home stable and that is all.

Damn, I just got AMD 3200+ Winchester and Neo2 Plat and most It wants to go is like 10*220. If i go higher It wont boot. best oc so far is only 230*9.5 Im gunna cry now.....
