With a new computer that I have just been using for a couple of weeks, today Windows gave me a BSOD with the error messages "Driver_State_Power_Failure."
The error code is 0x0000009f.
Before I made this thread, I looked online to see what I should do about it.
I checked the error with the BlueScreenView app, and it says:
"ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.exe+566897 fffff800`0b200000 fffff800`0c246000 0x01046000 0x65127fed 9/26/2023 1:53:33 AM Microsoft® Windows® Operating System NT Kernel & System 10.0.19041.5486 (WinBuild.160101.0800) Microsoft Corporation C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe."
I have also ran the Windows Troubleshooter for Power, and it said: "Time before computer goes to sleep is too long," and says it has "Fixed" that issue.
I also looked at my Device Manager and it said there was a driver error with "Microsoft Display Adapter, " which I wasn't even using at the time of the BSOD crash (I was using my 2080 NVIDIA GPU).
That error message says:
"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter."
I tried remove the device, and then Scanning For Hardware changes, and then the device was re-found, but the same exact error message is still present.
Also in Device Manger, the item listed as "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" says there is an error with the message "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful."
After the crash, I have disabled that device in Device Manager, and the bluetooth USB stick I have plugged into my computer still seems to be working.
I also moved the hard drive of this computer from my previous computer, without reinstalling anything.
Can you please tell me how I can:
1. Isolate the exact cause of this BSOD? And
2. Make sure that it won't happen again?
Thank you.
EDIT: I think that I have now noticed that running the Power troubleshooter seems to have set my computer to go to sleep after 30 minutes, even though I would have set it to Never before.
I still want it to be Never, so I changed it back. That shouldn't be the cause of this BSOD though, should it?
