windows 2000 advanced server now EXTREMELY SLOW!!! what happened?

I just finished doing an update w/ the latest updates offered via windows update.. and afterwards, the system is running extremely slow. I double click on "My Computer" to open up the multiple drives, etc. and it literally takes several minutes to bring the items up..

Everything on the system seems to be running unbearably slow.. to the point where it is almost non-operational. What can this be? What should I do? Will the disk defrag help? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? Thank you in advance..

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it was one of the updates you downloaded.

Just a thought. Go into Windows Update and look at your update history. Find the last ones you downloaded and go ahead and uninstall them. If that doesnt work the only thing that I can think of for you to do is to go ahead and do a repair install. It should find all of the modified system files on your disk and replace them with the ones on the cd.

Okay.. how do i relate what the updates were vs what is in my add/remove programs? I am hoping it is that simple.. the computer is really really bad.. i can't even click on anything for it to run.. this is what i just updated recently.. here's the list straight from the update history:

DirectX 9.0a End User Runtime

Now, when I look at the add/remove programs, all I see are windows 2000 hotfix, pre-sp4), etc.. and that type of description.. so how do i know which update was the one that i just had applied? thanks again..
